Detailed help for buyers

First of all:

Most of our data files are PDF-files and cannot be opened with Microsoft Word!
You will need both Filzip (except for Windows XP users) and Adobe Reader (both free programs you can download). Filzip compresses the file size for a faster download. Adobe Reader can then open the PDF data files. All of our texts are in this format.

The following is a detailed description for opening the texts you have purchased.

1. After you have registered with Firstgate and clicked on buy, a new Windows notification will open. You will be asked if you want to open or save the text. Saving the text to your desktop will be easiest.

Important: Do not change the name of the file. It must be called 1234.zip, for example!

You have 24 hours to download your text. If you experience computer problems (with your modem for example) you can restart the download within 24 hours. Worst case scenario: if the download fails all together, we can send the text to your e-mail address. If you did change the file name (to 1234.doc or only 1234, for example), right click on the file and rename the file with .zip. The file would then be called 1234.zip. The .zip is the only important part of the file name. What comes before that is irrelevant. If you are unable to find the data file, click on the windows start key and click on search. You enter the file name here and search for the downloaded text on your hard drive.

2. Now that you have the file on your system, double click on the file.

• If a Windows open with dialog box appears, the Zip-Program is not installed on your system and you should go on to number 3.
• - Filzip should now open. Right click on the file arbeit.pdf.
• - Click open
• - If Adobe Reader opens, please skip now to number 5.
• - If nothing happens, you do not have Adobe Reader and should skip to number 4.

3. In order to open Zip-files on your computer, you need a special program.

Windows XP is able to open Zip-files without any additional programs. Because Zip-files are widely used and compress large files, it is worth having such a program installed on your computer anyways. Filzip is free and easy to install. To download Filzip, click on the following link:

Choose your desktop for saving the file you are about to download. The download may take a few minutes. When it is finished, click on open, or go directly to your desktop and click on the downloaded file. The program will now be installed When the installation is finished and you open the program for the first time, a dialog box will appear with the message - Select the file types you want to open with Filzip - be sure to include Zip archives and click associate.

Please go back to number 2 now.

4. Adobe Reader isn't installed on your computer.

This is a free program that can open and print all PDF-files. All texts on Hausarbeiten.de are in PDF format and you will need to install Adobe Reader to interpret and open PDF-files. Furthermore, it is a standard program that every computer user should have. Click on the following link to download Adobe Reader. Download the file to your desktop. This may take a few minutes. Once finished, double click on the icon that will show up on your desktop to install Adobe Reader. You can also find the program on CD-ROM in many computer magazines.

After you have installed the program, you will need to restart your computer. Once your computer has finished re-booting, you can open Adobe and read the texts you have downloaded. Go back to number 2 now.

5. You did it! The document is now opened in Adobe Reader.

Click on file (upper-left) and then on save copy to save the document to a different place on your computer, or on print. If you still have problems, ask an associate or friend with computer knowledge for help.
