This paper is about Lean Six Sigma Implementation. . We will see the origin of Six Sigma and its implementation over the years. We will see the history of LSS. The constraints of LSS are explained in this paper with the illusions of LSS. We will be discussing how Lean and Six Sigma have changed the fate of many companies over the years. We will see whether LSS can be implemented in all types of companies easily or we will see how hard is to implement a LSS in the companies. At the end we will have some things known like why all the companies could not implement LSS and get its benefits. Let us conclude our paper with some points that makes us to decide whether LSS can be implemented in all types of companies or not.
The roots of LSS started from Carl Friedrich Gauss in the years 1777-1885. It is then developed and used by Bill Smith in his company Motorola. Six Sigma then became a trade mark of Motorola. In the mid 1980’s Motorola engineers decided to count the number of defects per millions and started using Six Sigma. The use of six sigma dramatically changed the defects per million. Motorola is benefited with $16 billion as a result of implementing Six Sigma. After that every company around the world started to implement Six Sigma. (Heggins)
In this way, Six Sigma came into existence but the implementation of Six Sigma is a trial for most of the companies until now. It is also seen that many companies successfully implemented Six Sigma. Today many companies are still trying to implement Six Sigma and doing their best to implement it. Six Sigma implementation gives the best results to any company because its successful implementation gives only 3.4 defects per million. The thing is here many companies like to implement Six Sigma but there only some hundreds of companies over the world that successfully implemented Six Sigma and had its benefits. There are many companies all over the world who is trying to implement LSS in their company.
Lean is also known as Lean production. It involves a set of principles and practices. It gives methods to fallow to increase the efficiency of manufacturing process and managing process. Lean came into existence after Taiichi Ohno’s who is creator of Toyota Production System. Lean is eliminating of “ muda’’ which is a Japanese word which mean waste. Lean is nothing but removing the waste from the company which do not any value to the organization and affect the company. Lean does many things. It removes unwanted steps in the processes, decreases waiting time, apt use of men and material. One of the processes that help Lean to implement is Value stream mapping which people, men and material are efficiently used to produce an item within the specified time. (Sharon A. Statement of Problem:
Lean Six Sigma is undoubtedly the best quality as of now as its implementation gives only 3.4 defects per million but why could all the companies could not start to implement Six Sigma and take its benefits. In the world there are millions of companies but there are only thousands who has come forward and trying to implement Six Sigma. There are some thousands who don’t even dare to implement Six Sigma. Besides these there are some companies who is struggling and trying hard to implement LSS in their company.
The reasons behind why the companies could not start to implement Six Sigma are fallows.
1. They never heard of Lean Six Sigma
2. Lean is just a quality tool like TQM and other quality tools.
3. Implementation of LSS requires time which they are not ready to spend on it.
4. The companies could not afford the cost of implementation of LSS.
5. Companies don’t know how to start LSS and implement LSS.
6. Companies feel that it is highly impossible to implement LSSS.
7. They feel that LSS is only for manufacturing industries.
8. They feel that LSS can only be implemented in large scale industries.
9. They feel that LSS requires a strong team of engineers who could implement LSS which they claim that they don’t have any such engineers.
10. Some companies give up after trying implementing LSS as they feel they could not implement it.
11. Six Sigma is not fit for their business and they feel that they earning even without implementing Six Sigma.
12. Fear of failure makes the companies not to try to implement as there are many companies that could not implement LSS.
After observing all the above constraints to implement LSS, there is a need of to give some way to use LSS by experts in those filed. Experts’ opinion also differs in this case. Some experts argue that it is easy to implement LSS in any type of company and some say it could not achieved by all types of companies because of many reasons. It is true that nothing is impossible so LSS can be achieved by any type of company. A mere dedication and determination with some perfect plan makes it possible to implement LSS. Economy, Time and Engineers are definitely required for any company to implement LSS. It is also important to mention that today’s successful companies are once a small scale companies which they have big multinational companies just after using LSS. So it is not that money or something it’s all about us to implement LSS in the companies.
Purpose of study:
It is a proven fact that implementation of Lean Six Sigma gives best results like 98.38% yield with 3.4 defects per million. It is also seen that many multinational companies are users of LSS. It is that these companies have become millionaire companies after using LSS. Seeing all the above things many companies do not dare to implement Six Sigma. There are many reasons why companies don’t start to use LSS. So it is necessary to study the things that do not make the companies to use LSS and make everyone feel that LSS can be implemented in all types of industries and all range of companies like even in small scale or medium scale. This study is needed to find out why the companies don’t dare to use LSS and remove their imaginations about LSS. The purpose of this study is to bring out that LSS can be implemented in any type of company. It can also be implemented in small scale and medium scale industries. It is necessary to bring some outlines or some simple ways to implement LSS.

Hypotheis1: Lean Six Sigma implementation can be implemented in any type of any company and get it benefits.

Hypotheis3: Lean Six Sigma is not only best to implement for manufacturing industries but also for all types of industries.

Abstract: This paper is a review of Six Sigma Implementation in small scale industry. It explains how and where the industry has to work to put Six Sigma into work place. It also tells the methodology to be used by the company. It also tells the various tools and techniques used by companies to use LSS. It also explained the benefits after using DMAIC. It clearly explained how a small scale industry like Motorola turned into a massive company with the use of Lean Six Sigma.

Abstract: This paper is about to provide the industry applicable rules and guidelines for the LSS implementation. This helped in thirteen industry generic project definitions that are divided by four performance measures like quality, dependability, speed and cost efficiency. This paper really helped many industries who have just started using LSS in their organization.
