The research paper will check on Europeanisation and finalize the research by focusing on Harvard University.

The current society is talking about globalization in each aspect. In business, politicians, marketers, and academics all refer to global environments, threats, and markets. In the world, globalization has created much influence among people. One area that has not been left out is globalization in higher education and the institutions that offer higher education. There is ongoing research on the effects of globalization on international Higher education. Universities have the challenge of globalization since it grows continually. Globalization creates opportunities in higher education and brings about expansive concerns in the institutions of higher learning.

3.3 The negative side of the impacts of globalization

Globalization brings both progressive and negative impacts to higher education. This is, for instance, the universities that ignored and did not embrace globalization, excluding themselves from societal and economic innovations, suffered majorly. They had challenges in overcoming lagging behind in technological advancements, and this created inequalities that currently exist in Higher Education. The focus on emerging economies, which have small systems of academic, does not bridge the gap of inequality. Powerful universities are the ones heavily depended on in rulemaking, knowledge and its distribution. Less powerful universities with smaller resources and lower academic standards have to follow the powerful institutions. The powerful universities are advantaged in that they have English as their top language. Most of the developing countries were colonized by western countries. From colonization, they took up the education model that was used by their colonial masters; the Higher education institutions introduced in those countries used the models from the colonial masters. However, when colonialization was over, the institutions were left to grow on their own, and due to this, they had to lag behind since they lacked the resources needed for growth.

In current society, it is not easy for a developing country to acquire the status of being a powerful university, this is because massive resources are required in setting up of research centers. This means that the universities had to invest a lot in the construction of powerful laboratories and stock them up. There are more additional costs that they have to invest in, such as a library, technology, and internet. Many countries in developing countries that failed to get these resources will not rank them in the top universities list.
