The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) was founded in 1987, and it was registered as a charitable association. The association was incorporated under the act of not for profit corporations of Canada in 2009. The association has offered support in many charitable programs for the last 30 years since it was established, like financial support for students studying medicines, programing, and research addressing physical health like the CPHI and its offering medical outreach regionally. The association operated under the institute of physical health of Canada up to 2016.

Still, it registered itself as an independent entity whose aim was to inspire volunteerism and promote health practitioners' generosity. The association has over 75,000 members, and it is established as the most significant association for medical experts within Canada. Its membership consists of medical learners and physicians.

Excerpt from the Book

Advocacy of CMA

It was a national association of physicians and medical learners, the association advocates for major issues related to the Canadians and their members' health. As the association develops its positions, it pursues input through the hall meetings at the tow; it also surveys its members and reviews the essential scientific research. It also seeks funds from the territorial medical associations and more than 60 affiliates, stakeholders, and associate organizations.

During the 2019 federal elections, the association of CMA was working tirelessly to ensure that health and healthcare were the key issues being addressed. In its campaign, the association focused on critical priorities being; access to care where they demanded a healthcare system where every citizen accessed healthcare. It also focused on seniors care as the existing Canadian healthcare failed to meet their citizen needs, especially the aging population (Hanson, Melissa, and Dennis Pitt 69; 2017). Therefore, the association of CMA advocated for a national plan that addressed all the aspects for aged care with inclusion of palliative, long term, and home care. It also advocated for pharma care as the Canadian health care did not include prescription experts as part of their public health plan. They also fought for the youth's mental health, where they demanded accessible mental health care and addiction services for the youth. They also demanded interventions towards climate change as the people of Canada were adversely affected by climate change.
