In this article, "The Lives of Animals" by John Maxwell Coetzee will be attempted to be examined and analyzed by relating to the emergence of the Coronavirus epidemic within the framework of ecocritical principles.
The Lives of Animals is penned by John Maxwell Coetzee, an African-Australian author who is fond of animal rights and has written comprehensively on the subject in world literature. Amy Gutmann's additions are also substantial. In fact, the book can be seen as a compilation prepared by adding some fictional texts within the framework of the experiences Coetzee has gained from the previous conferences. Although he seems to examine animals in general terms in its content, he aims to process and discuss the right to life that every living thing should have first, and that human beings should focus on respecting all living forms, especially animals, on the basis of a feeling of sympathy.
