This study investigated the challenges and opportunities for rural entrepreneurship development in Ethiopia taking the case "Gelgela" Dairy and "Yichalal" Poultry Production Enterprises located in Bosa Qacha Kebele of Sodo Zuriya Wereda of Wolaita Zone in SNNPRS. Regardless of the fact that some of the challenges and opportunities were shared in common with enterprises engaged in similar ventures, it would be difficult to infer the results to the other enterprises within another Weredas of the same Zone since rural locations differ in many aspects. Consequently, findings cannot be generalized to broader rural locations in SNNPRS and the whole country.

Excerpt from the Book
3.1. General Overview on the Performance of all Enterprises in the Wereda
The Sodo Zuriya Wereda office of enterprises and industry development is structured into two divisions as town and rural job opportunity creation. The rural job opportunity creation or enterprise development section is responsible and mandated in screening and organizing unemployed rural youth including those who are married based on age, and farmland size.
Youth under the age of 18-34, farmland below 0.25 ha, and no any permanent income following the consent from the Kebele administration are screened as an employee and organized in the enterprise. Organization of the youth is being carried out giving priority for graduates from Universities and Colleges. Such activities are undertaken by bachelor graduates from the various agricultural field of specializations who are employed and assigned at all the rural Kebeles following the directives and guidance from the Wereda level office experts.
Then every youth to be organized under a particular enterprise is required to be free from any kind of formal debt and that should be approved by the Omo and Vision-fund microfinance institutions operating in the Wolaita Sodo town since the initial capital would be obtained from these institutions. The main source of the capital was the revolving fund from the federal government to initiate and support enterprise development to create job opportunities for unemployed youth all over the country launched in 2013.
