The following essay will examine standardised testing that has been used throughout the world and in many countries, especially in America. We use these tests regularly and consistently in International Schools to gather information, and data about students especially in Mathematics, English (Literacy), and General Sciences. Most teachers use these to establish reading abilities for students in English in Primary (Elementary) Schools before they enter Secondary (Middle & High) schools. Schools abroad will continue to use standardised tests to allow students to achieve their goals by setting specific targets for them to achieve. These are monitored closely to allow institutions to make adequate provisions for their educational needs.

Excerpt from the Book

The positives and negatives of using standardised testing

The positive of using standardised testing is that all the students begin and write and complete the same test, which involves a group or even a population. These tests can include an aptitude test, achievement tests, college-admission tests, International-comparison tests, and psychological tests, where their cognitive abilities could be tested, for example, Myers Briggs, these all are geared towards mental, emotional, developmental, and social characteristics (Reform, 2015).

Another positive is that these tests could improve student's achievement by addressing issues or areas for improvement, for entry examinations most international students where English is the second language would have to conclude a TOEFL or IELTS examination and score a respected grade to enable them to be accepted in terms of language abilities, and acquisition. The student's performance and educational results hold the school and teacher accountable in many ways. It forms as an evaluation to understand what the students were expected to learn. It identifies possible gaps that exist in terms of students' learning and academic progress. It identifies achievement gaps from different student groups and it is used to determine whether the educational policies of the school are working (ProCon.org, 2018; Reform, 2015).
