This essay will elaborate on the learner analysis and the instructional process associated that can be used within an international school setting where students are studying the international baccalaureate programme in the secondary school. Promoting international mindedness, allows students to make greater connections within a global context, understand how the world works and how inquiry-based learning can be an effective tool used within the Middle Years or Diploma Programme.
Promoting opportunities for students to engage in a range of activities is important and necessary within secondary school, where students ask questions, inquiry, and are critical thinkers.

Excerpt from the Book

First Goal - Intended Target Audience

As an educator, it is essential to plan accordingly when it comes to delivering lessons. It is important to conduct a student analysis to obtain the necessary information to promote differentiation in the classroom and set work appropriate for their educational needs. The first goal I would focus on and use according to Brown & Green (2016) suggests: “Who is the intended audience for the instruction” thinking along with the age appropriateness of content and what the educator hopes to teach, understanding their educational needs is imperative.

Making use of differentiation and applying cooperative learning strategies starts with the target audience. How old are the students you might be teaching, is the content correct and suitable for their educational needs? Are you implementing technology as a massive part of differentiation in the classroom as outlined by Stauffer (2022)? When one concludes the analysis you will have the answers on how to apply differentiation correctly and which resources to use, which promotes critical thinking as outlined by IBO (2018) with a strong emphasis on the various Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) Skills. Students will encompass their communication, research, social, thinking, and self-management skills, which will enable them to conclude tasks and be on target. As teachers, we only want what is best for them to progress academically in their respective subjects.
