This collection of articles examines the latest thinking on contemporary developments in the security issues in global politics by covering major concepts and practical dynamics. The book includes the chapters covering the security issues related to the Aegean Sea, Baltic region, Caspian Basin, the war in Syria, mediation in Cyprus, defense expenditure in Türkiye, anti-gender movements and economic security. Contributions in the book fall at the intersection of scientific disciplines in humanities and social science. Contributions are either theoretical or empirical, applying scientific research methods.
In the contemporary research and analyses in academia, “security” takes an important place. In particular, the increasing flow of immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa and the Russia-Ukraine War not only enabled the formation of national and international strategies for security, but also contributed to emerging intensively in scientific analyzes carried out within the theoretical context. It is presented in various studies that the forcing of the international system and, accordingly, the domestic and foreign policies of countries to change are directly related to the changing security perception.

- In the first chapter, "Unforgettables" Forever: “Greek Islands” of Türkiye in the Sea of Islands, Gökhan Ak presents the historical background related to the current position of the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.
- The second chapter, titled Ciphers of Baltic Vigilance: Unveiling the Enigmatic Security Strategies of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, Ömer Akpınar and Recep Şehitoğlu present security policies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as Baltic States after the independence from the USSR and how the Crimean invasion and the Ukraine-Russia War affected the security policies of these three countries.
- The third chapter, titled The Issue of Sharing the Caspian Basin: A Historical Overview, Arguments of the Parties, and the 2018 Convention Issue, Hazal Işık and M. Fatih Sansar present the effect of the Caspian Convention for resolving the disputes related to sharing the Caspian Basin.
- In the fourth chapter, titled Protection of Urban Areas and Cultural Heritages in Wars: The Case of Syria, Suat Dönmez presents that international crimes targeting cultural heritage are not solely perpetrated by terrorist organizations but also by the global powers, driven by their Middle East and Africa ambitions, have also significantly destabilized these regions and endangered cultural heritage.
