Zusammenfassung Leseprobe Details

The primary aim of the research is to explore the impact of efficient “reward systems” on “agile project” achievement in the “Information Technology” (IT) industry.

Team-based reward systems are considered as systems of rewards and incentives that inspire team members to collaborate towards shared goals. When the members of the team are able to attain their set objectives, then they are rewarded. In situations when the members of the team fail to attain their set objectives, then they do not receive rewards.

This is a qualitative study that involved the application of “Systematic literature review” (SLR) framework; this framework is vital based on the aspect that it enables the researcher to determine, assess as well as interpret existing study from other investigators or researchers that are suitable to a precise study question or area of focus.
Implication: The findings of the study possess practical value as they provide a basis for improving the team's effectiveness and project success in agile IT projects. Through exposure to the influence of performance systems on team members' motivation, performance, and satisfaction, the study may provoke project managers and IT companies to optimize and improve their project results.

Team-based reward systems are essential in agile projects as they enhance collaboration and communication. Rewarding a group of individuals for their collaborative efforts increase their willingness to improve their collaborative prowess. This has a positive impact on their communication, as with enhanced collaboration, their communication also enhances. The systems also up-surge inspiration and engagement; implementing a reward system that recognizes team contributions can improve employee motivation, job satisfaction, and loyalty.

Objectives and Research Themes

The primary aim of this research is to explore the impact of efficient reward systems on agile project achievement within the IT industry. The research seeks to identify how team-oriented remuneration influences team motivation, effectiveness, and overall project success in fast-paced technological environments.

  • Exploring the correlation between team-based reward systems and agile project success.
  • Identifying factors that drive team motivation in agile IT development projects.
  • Examining different models of reward systems, such as goal-based and discretionary rewards.
  • Analyzing the process and parameters involved in designing effective reward programs for agile teams.

Auszug aus dem Buch

3.1 Effective reward systems and various types

Team-based reward systems are considered as systems of rewards and incentives that inspire team members to collaborate towards shared goals. When the members of the team are able to attain their set objectives, then they are rewarded. In situations when the members of the team fail to attain their set objectives, then they do not receive rewards. A study conducted by Ali, & Boudabbous (2021) examined the diverse reward systems that are implemented in project management. The study showed that among the most common team-based reward programs or entails “goal-based rewards.” The study results also showed that the above presented reward systems only reward team members when they attain the set objectives. The goals can be short-term or long-term. These types of incentive programs reward teams only when they reach a preset goal.

The results also showed that “goal-based reward” systems are very efficient in promoting teamwork, inspiration as well as effort. Another set of team-based reward systems include “discretionary rewards.” Study results have shown that “team-based discretionary rewards” are offered to members of the team based on performance of the team as well as outcomes and are at times called “spot rewards.” For example, when the performance of the team in the agile project in IT sector is good, then the team members are offered these rewards. It is worth noting that the rewards that team members are offered in discretionary systems do not depend on predetermined objectives (Nandakumar, & Qorri, 2021). Moreover, it is worth noting that with the application of rewards in this system, the project managers or supervisors are tasked with deciding whether or not the team deserves the discretionary reward. Other efficient reward systems involve the “Merit-Based Rewards.” These types of team-based reward programs are a bit subjective in the sense that managers or supervisors determine whether or not teams deserve a reward.
