Excerpt from the Book

4. Rosewood Hotel Group vs. Baglioni Hotels & Resorts

Rosewood Hotel Group, a leading global lifestyle and hospitality management group, features four brands: ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®; upper-upscale New World Hotels & Resorts; Asaya, a well-being concept; and Carlyle & Co., a private members club. The overall portfolio encompasses 48 hotels in 22 countries with more than 38 new properties currently under development. The Palace Company-owned Baglioni Hotels & Resorts properties are lesser in number and more concentrated in Italy. The group encloses 5 city hotels (Milan, Florence, Venice, Rome, London) and 3 resorts in Italy, London, and the Maldives.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ concept of luxury evolves around the “Sense of Place”. The authenticity of a destination is paramount, and its environment is treated with profound respect. Each property’s architecture mirrors the culture, history, and natural allure of its locale, drawing inspiration from local traditions, using indigenous materials in construction, hereby crafting an immersive journey for guests, enabling them to connect with the destination’s essence. Furthermore, Rosewood consults local artisans, historians, and cultural experts to increase authenticity. The groups work revolves around the so called” Passion Pillars”: the aforementioned “Sense of Place”, attention to detail, exceptional design, and personalized service. The group therefore employs “PlaceMakers”: Exceeding the role of a concierge, they are viewed as storytellers, cultural ambassadors, and custodians of the Rosewood experience.
