Research Objectives and Topics
The research aims to determine how mastering project management skills can be essential in parenthood by analyzing the best practices in parenting that align with project management methodologies. It specifically investigates the skills required for effective parenting within the context of Qatar, the stress management practices adopted by local parents, and the potential for applying project management concepts to improve family life outcomes.
- Application of project management phases (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/evaluation) in parenting.
- Identification of critical parenting skills such as communication, emotional intelligence, and time management.
- Analysis of stress management strategies and their efficacy among parents in Qatar.
- Use of project management tools (Gantt charts, work breakdown structures) in family life.
- Exploration of effective practices including family charters and structured decision-making.
Excerpt from the Book
Initiation and planning
The initiation and planning phases are usually interconnected. The planning phase will involve the parents getting the parental and physical environment ready for the child. In this phase, the parents can seek other parents' advice, attend classes, and read books. This planning and preparations form a core process of the parental project process. Through planning for their children, the parents prepare themselves and their physical environment for a new human being. There are very many tools that parents can use in the planning phase, and this can range from educational institution parent-coach planners. These will ensure that the parents can overcome and confront any obstacles associated with having and raising a child. Bright Hub (2016) states the project management phase is vital, starting from the planning phase. Parents must be ready to determine what type of parent they want to be, and this is why reading, attending classes, and even seeking advice can help answer the question. The setting up of parenting goals should also include those of the child, and one should determine if they want the child to have respect for others and good manners. The child's goals should be different from vocational or avocational pursuits.
