This study explores the influence of technological innovation on the performance of telecom firms, with a focus on the mediating role of creative behavior and the moderating role of government policies supporting innovation. Data was collected from 326 employees in managerial and operational roles across telecom firms in Pakistan, using a convenience sampling method. Quantitative analysis was performed with SPSS and Smart PLS software.
Findings indicate that technological innovation significantly enhances telecom firms' performance. While creative behavior serves as a mediator, its impact is less pronounced. Contrary to expectations, government policies supporting innovation do not exhibit a moderating effect on the relationship between technological innovation and firm performance.
This research provides actionable insights for policymakers and telecom regulators to review and refine innovation policies, addressing their current ineffectiveness. The novel exploration of creative behavior as a mediating factor enriches the existing literature on innovation in the telecom sector. Limitations include the focus on a subset of telecom firms in Pakistan and the use of cross-sectional data.
The study offers practical implications for policy and decision-makers in fostering technological advancements, while contributing to theoretical understanding of innovation's role in enhancing firm performance in the digital age.

Zielsetzung und Themenschwerpunkte (Objectives and Key Themes)
This thesis aims to analyze the impact of technological innovation on the performance of telecom firms in Pakistan. It investigates the mediating role of creative behavior and the moderating effect of government policies supporting innovation. The study employs quantitative research methods to test specific hypotheses regarding these relationships.
- Impact of technological innovation on telecom firm performance
- The mediating role of creative behavior in the relationship between technological innovation and firm performance
- The moderating effect of government policies on the relationship between technological innovation and firm performance
- Quantitative analysis of data from the Pakistani telecom sector
- Development of an operational model to explain the interplay of these factors
Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
1. INTRODUCTION: This introductory chapter sets the stage for the thesis by providing background information on technological innovation in the telecom sector, identifying a research gap related to the mediating and moderating effects of creative behavior and government policies in Pakistan, and formulating the research questions and objectives. It defines key variables (technological innovation, creative behavior, government policies, and telecom firm performance), outlines the research theory underpinning the study, and details the structure of the thesis report.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW: This chapter presents a comprehensive review of existing literature on the relationships between technological innovation, creative behavior, government policies, and telecom firm performance. It explores the individual relationships between these variables, examining how technological innovation influences both creative behavior and firm performance directly, and how creative behavior itself impacts firm performance. Furthermore, it lays the groundwork for understanding the mediating role of creative behavior and the moderating role of government policies, culminating in a conceptual research framework and a summary of the research hypotheses to be tested.
3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: This chapter describes the research approach employed in the study, including the type of study (quantitative), study setting, time horizon, research interference, and unit of analysis. It details the population and sampling techniques used, specifies the sample size, and explains the scales and measures used to operationalize the key variables (technological innovation, creative behavior, government policies, and telecom firm performance). It provides a clear roadmap of the research design and data collection process.
4. DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS: This chapter presents the results of the data analysis, covering descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling using Smart PLS. It includes results from confirmatory factor analysis to assess the validity and reliability of the measurement scales, and regression analyses to test the hypotheses concerning mediation and moderation. The chapter systematically presents the findings regarding the relationships between technological innovation, creative behavior, government policies, and telecom firm performance, providing a detailed analysis of the results and their implications.
