This research investigated the impact of management information system adoption, managerial skills and managerial effectiveness in secondary schools in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State. The study was prompted by the lack of managerial effectiveness among public secondary school principals in Jos East LGA of Plateau State. Five research questions and five hypotheses were formulated to facilitate the study. The study was anchored on the Technology Adoption Model propounded by Davies (1986). The correlational survey research design was adopted in the study. A total of 215 questionnaires were administered and 200 were returned giving a return rate of 93%. The researcher utilized three questionnaires namely: Management Information System Adoption Questionnaire (MISAQ), Managerial Effectiveness Questionnaire (MEQ) and Managerial Skill Questionnaire.
The importance of information management in the educational system cannot be over-emphasized. This is because information is lifeline of any educational organization. The extent to which a school is able to process, store and manage data determines the level of administrative effectiveness in such a school. Casual observation by the researcher has revealed that essential school records manually kept sometimes disappeared; others falsified which portrayed non-challant attitude of record officers towards their responsibility. It has also been observed that principals most often do not provide accurate number of students on enrolment during Parent Teacher Association levy account, among others. This has often threatens effective planning and administration of education for the realization of the goal of secondary level of education.

Objectives and Key Themes
This study aims to investigate the relationship between management information systems (MIS), managerial skills, and managerial effectiveness in secondary schools. The research seeks to understand how the adoption of MIS impacts managerial effectiveness and the mediating role of managerial skills in this relationship. * The impact of Management Information Systems (MIS) on managerial effectiveness in secondary schools. * The role of managerial skills in enhancing managerial effectiveness. * The relationship between MIS and managerial skills. * The mediating effect of managerial skills on the relationship between MIS and managerial effectiveness. * Effective resource allocation and improved administrative efficiency in secondary schools.Chapter Summaries
Chapter One: Introduction: This chapter sets the stage for the research by highlighting the crucial role of information management in educational institutions. It emphasizes the challenges posed by inefficient manual record-keeping, leading to inaccurate data and hindering effective planning and administration. The chapter introduces the concept of management information systems (MIS) as a technological solution to these challenges, improving data processing and decision-making for school administrators. The chapter also describes the problem of teacher distribution in public secondary schools, showing how unreliable information leads to imbalances in staffing and compromises the quality of education. Chapter Two: Literature Review: This chapter provides a comprehensive review of existing literature related to management information systems (MIS), managerial effectiveness, and managerial skills. It explores various conceptual frameworks, theoretical models (such as the Technology Adoption Model and knowledge-based theory), and empirical studies examining the relationship between these variables. The review synthesizes existing research to identify gaps in the literature and to establish a foundation for the current research study. The chapter highlights the need for further research into the specific context of secondary schools and the mediating role of managerial skills. Chapter Three: Methodology: This chapter details the research design, including the population and sampling techniques employed in the study. It describes the data collection instruments and outlines the procedures used for data collection and analysis. The chapter also addresses the validity and reliability of the research instruments, ensuring the rigor and trustworthiness of the findings. The methodological choices made in this chapter are justified in relation to the research questions and objectives outlined in Chapter One. Chapter Four: Data Presentation and Analysis: This chapter presents the results of the data analysis. It will show the findings related to the relationship between MIS, managerial skills, and managerial effectiveness in secondary schools. This will include statistical analyses and interpretations of the data collected, providing evidence to support or refute the hypotheses stated in Chapter One. The chapter will likely include tables and figures to visually represent the key findings. A detailed discussion of these findings will then follow. Keywords
