Recent developments in generative AI provide the means to apply AI to manage and control immigration and the integration of migrants in local communities worldwide. This research proposes how AI can improve the control and management of immigration policies. A literature review and interviews with migrants closed the identified knowledge gap of how immigration control and migrant integration could be applied to address the social-psychological aspects of migration in areas such as social identity and cultural integration. Results suggest that Governments would benefit from adopting the application of AI in immigration in combination with meaningful human control to reduce AI hallucinations. An AI-driven immigration trend analysis provides the means to ensure that a country’s infrastructure can cope with migration influx changes.

Research Objectives and Themes
This research aims to investigate how generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be effectively integrated into immigration control and migrant integration processes to address social-psychological challenges, such as cultural identity and societal bonding, while ensuring human oversight to maintain ethical standards and public trust.
- Application of Generative AI in immigration policy and management.
- Social-psychological impacts of migration on cultural identity and integration.
- Balance between automated decision-making and meaningful human control.
- Improvement of immigration frameworks to reduce xenophobic and racist attitudes.
- Use of data-driven insights to facilitate efficient migrant integration and social cohesion.

1.2.3 The role of AI to exercise consistent and unbiased Migrant Control and Integration
Csatlos (2024) purports that immigration control and management within the European Union, for example has become a major concern. This has placed a substantive burden on the associated administration workload. A statistical analysis from the year 2022 suggests that approximately 25 million non-EU subjects were residing in EU member states. This makes up just over 5% of the total EU population. This does not include the many third-country subjects that either have been refused entry, are illegal immigrants, or who have been ordered/returned to leave. It appears that this situation has driven the need for a digitalization system, acting as a technological risk filter to improve the interoperability of immigration resources.
Such an approach has the advantage of being able to co-ordinate inputs from involved departments, including border control, criminal checks, and existing migration control policies. The planned European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) centralizes authorizations to travel by interpreting acquired database information, including potentially risky elements. Visa applications, for example, are processed automatically online and automated decisions are made whether to issue a Visa or not.
A serious concern remains regarding the relationship between immigration ad crime. It appears that such a system does not properly and consistently highlight what the current border management, law enforcement and migration control does not. A major challenge within the EU, for example, includes upholding immigration laws, equality, and human rights, whilst being seen to uphold transparency, accountability, and democratic control. It is major challenge for any immigration control system to reduce uncertainty and to manage arbitrariness effectively.

The study covers the intersection of technology and sociology, specifically focusing on social identity, cultural integration, border security, and the ethics of AI in public administration.
What is the main objective of the study?
The goal is to propose solutions for applying AI to enhance immigration control while addressing the social-psychological needs of migrants and local communities.
Which scientific methodology is employed?
The author uses a constructivist interpretivist approach, utilizing a qualitative framework that involves a literature review and thematic analysis of face-to-face interviews.
What topics are covered in the main body?
The work discusses current migration trends, the role of AI in administrative decision-making, the necessity of human oversight, and the importance of safeguarding migrant rights.
Which keywords define this research?
Key terms include Artificial Intelligence, Social Identity, Cultural Integration, Migrant Integration, and ETIAS.
How does the author propose to reduce AI hallucinations?
The author advocates for meaningful human intervention and control, suggesting that AI should serve as an advisor for human decision-makers rather than an autonomous decision-maker.
Why is social identity critical for the proposed AI systems?
The research argues that AI systems must be designed to respect the social identity of individuals to maintain public confidence and reduce perceptions of unfairness in the immigration process.
What is the author's view on the ETIAS system?
The author views ETIAS as a significant digital tool for safety and risk mitigation, while acknowledging concerns regarding transparency, accountability, and potential bias in its automated processes.
