I just finished reading "Monkey Bridge" by Lan Cao, and I want to write down my thoughts using a neo-Marxist lens. Basically, that means I'm looking at the story through the eyes of class, money, power, and how the system (like the government, schools, and media) shapes the way people think. I am not focusing on the characters feelings alone. I am looking at the bigger forces pushing them around.
