Summary Details

This study aims to examine the job-related experiences of U.S. military veterans after their transition from active military service to civilian employment, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study compares the experiences of 25 veterans who attended TAP workshops with those of six veterans who did not participate. Based on survey data from veterans across all five U.S. military service branches, the research explores whether participation improves employment opportunities and job-related outcomes. The findings indicate that TAP participants did not experience better employment outcomes than non-participants. The study therefore highlights the need for further research into the effectiveness of transition assistance programs and their role in supporting veterans’ integration into the civilian workforce.
