The Origin of Life in the Cosmos argues that life isn’t a rare accident, but the universe’s default behavior whenever matter, or energy can sustain coherent information. Water worlds, frozen moons, volcanic planets, and even pure plasma environments all become viable habitats once coherence crosses the threshold into self-organization. Consciousness emerges as the phi connectome’s ability to record and replay experience; ego is simply the temporary pattern this coherence generates. When coherence collapses at death, ego dissolves, but the informational imprint remains embedded in the cosmos. This model reframes humanity’s place in the universe, suggesting life is widespread, consciousness is a natural phase of cosmic evolution, and mortality is a transition in coherence rather than an end.
