Introduction

I’ve been interested in photography since 1992. What was and still is fascinating for me to photograph are landscapes, portraits, foreign cultures and naked art. Having posed nude as a model in the past I have been in contact with naked art since my youth. I was at first very shy, then gradually I realized that it helped me to release certain fears and pjudices. So that’s how I started to enjoy the art of picturing nude women and men. I used different cameras. I started off with an analogic Canon, then a professional digital Nikkon. This year I decided to abandon the bigger camera for a smaller Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60. The main reason for this is that I have been traveling a lot. However, I’ve come to the conclusion that even a small camera can do great photos.

What fascinates me is how to associate a nude body to symbolism. The nature element is also very important to me. A naked body easily integrates within the simplicity of nature, in a fusion dance of symbolism and iridescent shadows. In my work I find all of my obsessions, dreams and fantasies. I love to transform my inner images into pictures.

Nude in art and photography

Naked art has always been found throughout man’s history since antiquity. Ranging from Eros to love to bodily health. The nude theme has always exercised a certain fascination both on artists and on the general public. And since ever the human figure repsentation is, par excellence, the most pstigious exercise in figurative art. Though the repsentation of the human figure is tightly connected, in its origins and evolution, to the “history of painting”, it is clearly more profane than religious.

The history of nude is also the history of its psentation and use, which testifies the ongoing shift of values, pjudices, taboos and transgressions relative to beauty, health, gender roles, and sexuality.

Since the invention of photography, in the first half of ‘800, nude art formed together with portraits’ and landscapes’ art, one of artists’ favorite subjects.

With numerous ptexts, such as dance, sport, exotism and science, the photographic nude, originally having an erotic intent, became public and was being introduced “in society”. But only since the Photo-Secession period with its impssionistic images that remind us of graphic art of a past age, the photographic nude becomes “artistic”. Dadaism, surrealism, futurism, constructivism, but especially the New Objectivity find in photography a congenial and contemporary way of expssion.

Nude becomes over the ‘900 a central theme thanks to which artists expss the differences in the view of life, in the view of beauty and imaginary erotic. In this context, also “glamour” photography plays an important role, giving origin to a tradition that turns out relevant to contemporary photography. After the strong censorship provoked from the Second World War, nude art degrades in subjective photography in a period of traditionalism and refusal. Only thanks to the ’68 movement that fought for the freedom of norms and taboos, a new enforced conscience of the human body was manifested. Starting from the second half of ‘900, from the use of nude art in marketing, advertising and in everyday life, artists that worked with photography added conceptual positions with the goal of selling their products.

All this clearly appears in the advertising messages today, with the visual control by the media, that through nude art fully mark communication. Therefore, man and woman, male and female, find themselves face to face.

The artist, especially in this century, has given both male and female naked art, an exhibition beyond any rule. Male muscles and female curves have invaded our daily imaginary. 1 this was a movement that developed in the first years of the XX century, whose intention was to promote photography as art.

Nude and its sacradness

Nude is at the center of everything, in fact, the body always carries along its glory and its misery, its exaltation through sexuality and its shame. The body is the objectification of the soul and within it is enclosed the mystery of life and death.

Nude is the clothing of what is within the body, until imposing the absolutely necessary passage from nature to grace. It is a vehicle of truth, because the body is glorious, and carries wonder, amazement and knowledge. Not so much in beauty or ability, but in innate potential and infinite richness. The body generates tension, movement, desire and feeling.

The beauty of the male body

The beauty of the male body has to be more considered, just like during the classic age when Greeks and Romans left us with few great examples of male nude art work.
Nowadays, more than ever, the information and entertainment channels seem to be quite exclusively spad with female images.

In modern and contemporary art, male nude has been censored without a real motive, giving exclusive space to female bodies, especially sexualized.

Hence, as long as we are dealing with female nudity, we call it art, but as soon as we are dealing with male nudity, we call it obscene and immoral. A woman is considered as an object of desire and hardly ever as a consumer or as being with contents; instead men have to play a role of authority that may not be stripped naked, as they would lose their dignity and virility.

It seems that many people connect with male nude art a fear of their own beauty and sensuality of their gender. This is a symptom of a pdominant homophobia. Crying out a scandal when seeing a male naked body in an artwork.

The human body, both male and female, has nothing shameful. The malice often resides in the eyes of the seer. Nudity repsents us as human beings, and our bodies are great instruments of communication.

Figures and male bodies

I have chosen to psent figures and male bodies only slightly retouched, that can transmit beauty and emotions, without having sustained neither physical plastic surgery nor photoshop plastic surgery. I have worked with male nonprofessional models, all friends. Preferring spontaneity and natural poses, where the interpter is simply himself with skin and heart together in the pictured instant. We have worked with incredible complicity. This is the “naked image”. So here are some photographs taken of 7 male models in the last 20 years, with their answers to some questions about nudity and nude art. Those are characterized by the type of the photographic moment.

Seit 1992 interessiere ich mich für die Fotografie. Was mich fasziniert, sind Bilder aus anderen Kulturen, Landschaften, Porträts und Akte. Da ich eine Zeitlang als Modell gearbeitet habe, bin ich sehr schnell mit der Kunst des Aktes in Kontakt gekommen. Am Anfang war ich sehr schüchtern, aber mit der Zeit wurde mir klar, daß es mir hilft, bestimmte Ängste und Vorurteile abzubauen. Und so begann ich dann auch selbst weibliche und männliche Modelle zu fotografieren. Ich habe mit verschiedenen Kameras gearbeitet. Zuerst begann ich mit einer analogen Canon, dann mit der digitalen Canon 10D und Nikon 300D zu fotografieren. In diesem Jahr beschloß ich mich, von diesen schweren Kameras zu trennen und diese mit einer kleineren Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 zu ersetzen. Und das, weil wir viel auf Reisen sind und ich überzeugt bin, daß man auch damit, gute Bilder machen kann.

Mich fasziniert die Verbindung des nackten Körpers mit der Symbolik. Das Element Natur ist in meinen Bildern sehr präsent. Ein nackter Körper integriert sich mit der Einfachheit der Natur sehr gut und verschmilzt in einen Tanz von Symbolik und Licht-/Schattenspiele. In meinen Bildern finde ich alle meine Obsessionen, Träume und Phantasien wieder. Ich mag es meine inneren Bilder in Fotografien umzuwandeln.

Der Akt in der Kunst und in der Fotografie

Der Akt zwischen Eros, Liebe und Gesundheit des Körpers begleitet die Geschichte der Menschheit seit der Antike. Das Thema des Aktes hat immer eine besondere Faszination auf Künstler und auf die Öffentlichkeit ausgelöst. Die Darstellung des menschlichen Körpers ist in der bildenden Kunst, par excellence, das beliebteste Objekt. Obwohl die Rafiguration der menschlichen Figur eng mit der "Geschichte der Malerei" verbunden ist, liegt ihr Ursprung und ihre Entwicklung offensichtlich mehr im profanen als im religiösen Bereich.

Die Geschichte der Darstellung und des Einsatzes des Aktes ist auch ein Beweis ständig wandelnder Vorurteile, Tabus und Übertretungen um das Thema Schönheit, Gesundheit, Geschlechterrollen und Sexualität.

Seit der Erfindung der Fotografie, in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts, ist der Akt zusammen mit den Porträts und Landschaften eines der Lieblingsthemen der Künstler.

Mit zahlreichen Vorwänden wie Tanz, Sport, Exotik und den Naturwissenschaften wurde die Aktfotografie "in die Gesellschaft" eingeführt. Erst durch die Gruppe „Photo-Secession“ wurde sie jedoch mit seinen Impssionistischen Bildern, die uns an Art-Grafiken einer vergangenen Ära erinnern, als "Kunstwerk" bezeichnet. Der Dadaismus, Surrealismus, Futurismus, Konstruktivismus und vor allem die Neue Sachlichkeit findet in der Fotografie ein anziehendes und zeitgenössisches Ausdrucksmittel.

Der Akt wird im 19. Jahrhundert ein zentrales Thema. Die Künstler bringen ihre vielfältige Lebensansicht mit verschiedenen Schönheitsmodellen und der Erotik zum Ausdruck. In diesem Zusammenhang spielt auch die Glamourfotografie eine wichtige Rolle und wird für die zeitgenössische Fotografie relevant. Durch den zweiten Weltkrieg wird jedoch die Aktfotografie entwertet und abgelehnt. Nur Dank der ’68 Bewegung, die für die Befreiung der Regeln und Tabus kämpfte, entsteht ein neues und erweitertes Bewußtsein für den menschlichen Körper. Ab der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhundert bekommen die Künstler bei der Verwendung der Aktfotografie in der immer stärker werdenden Markt-Strategie, Werbung und als Teil des öffentlichen Lebens im Allgemeinen eine wesentliche Position, da sie damit die eigenen Produkte besser verkaufen können. Alles wird viel offener durch die Werbeanzeigen und der visuellen Medien dargestellt. Und so findet sich der Mann und die Frau, die männliche und die weibliche Seite im Spiegel.

Der Künstler hat der männlichen und weiblichen Aktfotografie, vor allem in diesem Jahrhundert, ein Image gegeben, das jegliche Regeln überschreitet. Männliche Muskeln und weiblichen Kurven sind nun in den imaginären Alltag eingedrungen.

Der Akt und seine Heiligkeit

Der Akt ist das Zentrum von allem. In der Tat bringt der Körper immer den Ruhm und das Elend, die Verherrlichung von Sex und seinen Scham mit sich. Der Körper ist die Objektivierung der Seele und in ihm liegt das Geheimnis des Lebens und des Todes.

Die Nacktheit befindet sich innerhalb oder unter dem Körper und lädt uns ein, den Übergang von der Natur zur Humanität zu wagen. Sie ist Trägerin der Wahrheit, weil sie herrlich ist, uns zum Staunen bringt und Wissen mit sich trägt. Es ist nicht eine Übertreibung des Körpers, sondern die Öffnung des unendlichen Potential und wertvollen Reichtums, den wir in uns tragen. Der Körper erzeugt Spannung, Bewegung, Sehnsucht und Gefühle.

Die Schönheit des männlichen Körpers

Die Schönheit des männlichen Körpers sollte wie in der klassischen Zeit der Griechen und Römern mehr in Betracht gezogen werden. Diese haben viele Werke zum Thema des dargestellten männlichen Körpers hinterlassen. Heute scheinen Informationskanäle und Unterhaltungssendungen fast ausschließlich von weiblichen Bilder überflutet zu sein.

In der modernen und zeitgenössischen Kunst ist der männliche Akt ohne Grund zensiert worden; man gab ausschließlich dem weiblichen Körper, der auch hoch sexualisiert wurde, Raum.

Kurz gesagt, solange es um Frauen geht, kann man von Kunst reden, aber wenn es nackte Männer sind, wird sogar von Unmoral und Obszönität gesprochen. Die Frau wird als Objekt der Begierde dargestellt, und nie als Verbraucherin und Nutzerin gesehen; dagegen muß der Mann die Rolle der "Autorität" darstellen und kann nicht "ohne Unterhosen" gezeigt werden, sonst verliert er seine Männlichkeit und Würde.

Anscheinend liegen die Tücken, die gewisse Subjekte in den Kunstwerken des nackten männlichen Körpers gefunden haben, nur in der Angst vor der Schönheit und Sinnlichkeit des eigenen Geschlechts, die ein vorherrschendes Symptom der Homophobie widerspiegeln. Sie schreien sofort nach Skandal, wenn sie einen nackten männlichen Körper in einem Kunstwerk sehen.

Der männliche oder weibliche Körper ist keine Schande. Die Bosheit liegt oft im Auge des Betrachters. Nacktheit stellt uns Menschen als Körper dar und ist ein sehr kommunikatives Werkzeug.

Figuren und Männerkörper

Ich habe mich entschieden, die Figuren und Männerkörper wenig zu retuschieren, und deren Schönheit und Emotionen ohne digitale Schönheitsoperation darzustellen. Ich habe mit nicht-professionellen Modellen, alles Freunde, gearbeitetet. Dabei suchte ich die Spontaneität oder natürliche Posen, wo der Darsteller sich selbst mit Haut und Herz im Moment der Aufnahme sein durfte. Wir arbeiteten mit unglaublicher Komplexität und Natürlichkeit zusammen. Und das ist das Resultat gemeinsamer Zusammenarbeit. Es sind sieben männliche Modelle, die auf einige Fragen zum Thema Akt kurz geantwortet haben. Diese sind durch die Art des fotografischen Moment benannt.

Prefazione

E’ dal 1992 che m’interesso di fotografia. Quello che mi affascinava fotografare erano e sono tuttora altre culture, paesaggi, ritratti e il nudo. Avendo posato anche come modella sono entrata subito in contatto con l’arte del nudo. All’inizio ero molto timida ma poi mi rendevo semp più conto che ciò mi aiutava a sbloccare certe paure e pgiudizi che avevo. E cosi incominciai a fotografare la nudità femminile e maschile. Ho utilizzato diversi apparecchi fotografici. Ho iniziato con una Canon analogica, poi la Canon 10D digitale e la Nikon 300D digitale. Quest’anno ho deciso di abbandonare l’apparecchio fotografico grande sostituendolo con una piccola Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60. E questo perché siamo spesso in viaggio e sono convinta che si riescono a fare delle belle fotografie anche con una macchina fotografica di piccola dimensione ma semp di buone pstazioni.

Quello che mi affascina è come associare il corpo nudo con il simbolismo, ma l’elemento natura è anche molto psente. Un corpo nudo si integra molto bene nella nudità e semplicità della natura, in una danza fusionale di simbolismi e ombre cangianti. Nel mio lavoro ritrovo tutte le mie ossessioni, sogni e fantasie. Mi piace trasformare le mie immagini interiori in fotografie.

Il nudo nell'arte e nella fotografia

Il nudo nell'arte tra eros, amore e sanità del corpo, accompagna la storia dell'uomo sin dall'antichità. Il tema del nudo ha semp esercitato un particolare fascino sugli artisti e sul pubblico e da semp la raffigurazione del corpo umana è, per eccellenza, l'esercizio di maggior pstigio nell'ambito dell'arte figurativa. Benché la rappsentazione della figura umana sia strettamente connessa, nelle sue origini e nelle sue evoluzioni, alla "storia della pittura", evidentemente è più profana che religiosa.

La storia del nudo è anche una storia della sua psentazione e del suo utilizzo, che testimonia la continua metamorfosi di pgiudizi, tabù e trasgressioni relative tanto alla bellezza quanto alla salute, ai ruoli di genere come alla sessualità.

Fin dall'invenzione della fotografia, nella prima metà dell''800, il nudo costituiva, assieme al ritratto e al paesaggio, uno dei soggetti pferiti degli artisti.

Con numerosi ptesti, come la danza, lo sport, l'esotismo e le scienze, il nudo fotografico, nato con un intento erotico, diventava pubblico e veniva introdotto "in società". Soltanto dal periodo della Foto-Secessione^[1] con le sue immagini impssioniste che ricordano l'arte grafica di un'epoca passata, il nudo fotografico diventa "artistico". Il dadaismo, il surrealismo, il futurismo, il costruttivismo, ma soprattutto la Nuova Oggettività trovano nella fotografia un loro mezzo d'espssione congeniale e contemporaneo.

Il nudo diventa nel corso del '900 un tema centrale grazie al quale gli artisti riescono a esprimere la diversità nella visione della vita, negli ideali variabili dei modelli di bellezza e nelle diverse aspettative dell'immaginario erotico. In questo contesto, anche la fotografia glamour gioca un ruolo importante, dando origine ad una tradizione che diventa rilevante per la fotografia contemporanea. Dopo la forte cesura provocata dalla seconda guerra mondiale, il nudo degrada nella fotografia soggettiva in un periodo di tradizionalismo e rifiuto. Soltanto grazie a quel movimento di apertura che nasce nel '68 e che combatte per la liberazione dalle norme e dai tabù, si manifesta una nuova e rafforzata coscienza del corpo umano. A partire dalla seconda metà del '900, all'utilizzo semp più forte della fotografia del nudo nella strategia di mercato, nella pubblicità e nell'ambito della vita pubblica in generale, gli artisti hanno aggiunto posizioni concettuali al fine di poter maggiormente vendere i propri prodotti. Tutto ciò appare più chiaro alla luce dei messaggi pubblicitari, del controllo visivo dei media, che oggi nel nudo segnano appieno la comunicazione, per cui l'uomo e la donna, il maschio e la femmina, si ritrovano allo specchio.

L'artista, specie in questo secolo, ha dato del nudo, maschile e femminile, una esibizione al di là di ogni regola. Muscoli maschili e curve femminili hanno ormai invaso l'immaginario quotidiano.

Il Nudo e la sua Sacralità

Il Nudo è il cen­tro di tutto, infatti, il corpo porta sem­p con sé la sua glo­ria e la sua mise­ria, l’esaltazione del sesso e la sua vergogna. Il corpo è l’oggettivazione dell’anima e in esso è racchiuso il mistero della vita e della morte.

Il nudo è veste di ciò che è den­tro o sotto il corpo, fino a imporre il pas­sag­gio, asso­lu­ta­mente neces­sa­rio, dalla natura alla gra­zia. Vei­colo di verità, insomma, per­ché il corpo è glo­rioso, por­ta­tore di glo­ria, di stu­pore e di cono­scenza: non magni­fi­ca­zione del corpo nella sua agi­lità e bel­lezza, ma aper­tura di poten­zia­lità infi­nite e ric­chezza signi­fi­cante. Il corpo genera ten­sione, movi­mento, desi­de­rio e senso.

La bellezza del corpo maschile

La bellezza del corpo maschile dovrebbe essere considerata di più, come nell'età classica quando greci e romani ci hanno lasciato vari esempi di opere che rappsentano la nudità maschile.
Oggi più che mai i canali d’informazione e intrattenimento sembrano invasi quasi esclusivamente da immagini femminili.

Nell’arte moderna e contemporanea il nudo maschile è stato in definitiva censurato senza motivo, dando spazio esclusivamente a corpi di donna, anche fortemente sessualizzati.

Insomma, finché si tratta di donne, possiamo chiamarla arte, mentre se vi sono uomini nudi, si arriva a parlare addirittura d’immoralità e oscenità. La donna viene rappsentata come oggetto di desiderio e mai come consumatrice e utente di contenuto; per contro l’uomo deve rivestire un ruolo di “autorità” e non può essere “smutandato”, altrimenti perde la sua virilità e dignità.

A quanto pare la malizia che certi soggetti hanno trovato nelle opere d’arte del nudo maschile sta nella paura della bellezza e della sensualità del proprio sesso, sintomo di un’omofobia pdominante. Gridano allo scandalo quando vedono un corpo nudo maschile all’interno di un’opera d’arte.

Il corpo umano, femminile o maschile che sia, non ha nulla di vergognoso. La malizia spesso risiede negli occhi di chi guarda. La nudità ci rappsenta in quanto, esseri umani e il nostro corpo è uno strumento fortemente comunicativo.
