Excerpt from the Book

3.2.2 SYDNEY HILTOL HOTEL BOMBING CASE

On February 13, 1978, a bomb, planted in rubbish bin exploded outside the Hilton Hotel, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, when the hotel was the site of the first Commonwealth Heads of Government Regional Meetings (CHOGRM). For the meeting twelve foreign leaders were staying in the hotel at that time. In this incident, three deaths and eleven non-fatal injuries took place.

After this incident, the fingers were pointed directly on Ananda Marga by the media and authorities. Morarji Desai, the Indian Prime Minister then, who was also there for attending the meeting, blamed Ananda Marga claiming that attack was planned by Ananda Margis attempted to kill him due to the imprisonment of the Ananda Marga Organization’s spiritual leader Sri P R Sarkar. It had become fashion of that time to blame Ananda Marga for any mishap occurring, without any proof and investigation. It was a conspiracy created by other social and political parties to defame and harm the good reputation of Ananda Marga.
