Die Diskussion über Werte ist in vollem Gange. Der Begriff Wert ist kein "Unwort", sondern eine unentbehrliche Kategorie. Unentbehrlich, weil Personen und Dinge nicht nur Bedeutungen, sondern auch Geltungen haben, "angenehm, geschätzt, lieb, teuer" sein und somit Gegenstände persönlicher Wertungen werden können. Wie sich diese Einschätzung in den philosophischen, historisch-politischen und religiösen Traditionen manifestiert, wird detailliert dargestellt.
