Summary Excerpt Details

This is a simple work on catechetical perspectives of the Holy Rosary, as reflected in the Magisterial Teachings of the Catholic Church. A Marian devotion founded on a solid theology is what a Catholic needs to understand the uniqueness of Catholic faith, without mixing it up with pious practices that are devoid of a sound faith expression. This is a Perspective of the Marian Catechesis.

Excerpt from the Book

1. Introduction

“The Rosary of the Virgin Mary, which gradually took form in the second millennium under the guidance of the Spirit of God, is a prayer loved by countless Saints and encouraged by the Magisterium.”1 The Holy Rosary has become an element of popular identity and theological significance for the Catholics. Beginning in an age that was not politically speaking a predominantly Christian Age, as were the latter centuries of the first millennium, the practice of the Rosary was popularized by the mid second millennium and within three centuries came under severe crisis. The presence of the crisis, notwithstanding, the devotion to and the practice of the Rosary, lives on even today in the Catholic homes and communities of catholic faith. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the catechetical elements that exist in this practice and devotion basing on the Magisterium, that has proposed, sustained and encouraged this form of devotion.
