The Degradation of the Lake is due to following activities & developments:-

i. Reduction in the Water Spread area of the Lake due to abnormally high silt in the inflow.

ii. Dumping of excavated material with an intention of land grabbing.

iii. Construction of check dams to divert the fresh water away from the lake for purpose of irrigation.

iv. Agricultural runoffs containing fertilizers.

v. Encroachment of the feeder channels.

vi. Illegal deforestation in the catchment.

vii. Occasional dumping of Municipal waste, which significantly increases the BOD.

viii. Dumping of religious waste.

ix. Open defecation in the catchment.

x. Washing the cloths & vehicles in the inlet streams.
