The Bible remains one of the most controversial books in history. It is one of the books that has had more said about it, either good or bad. The Bible encompasses many styles of writing such as fiction, description, prophecy, poetry, law and history. In fact, it is regarded as the foundation of Christianity in that it comprises God's holy word. However, some people strongly criticize the Bible as textually false, historically unreliable, scientifically wrong and ethically regressive. Most of the individuals who grew up accepting the Bible as factual reaches a point where they ask questions about it, doubt its teaching and even reject it. Until now, there has been a wide range of evidence in support of and against the reliability of the Bible.

Excerpt from the Book

The Bible is historically accurate, meaning that whatever contained in it is true.

This has been confirmed through archaeology. Most of the locations, traditions and events mentioned in the Bible have been confirmed by researchers in the Middle East. In particular, Associates for Biblical Research has widely excavated Jericho (Sheler, 1999). The city of Jericho is said to have walls that seem to fall outward, attesting the accounts in the Bible as regards to the fall of Jericho walls. Besides, in the 1940s, Scrolls were discovered in Qumran Caves near the Dead Sea. The scrolls were said to be 800 years older than any other existing manuscripts and were comprised in the Hebrew Bible Canon. The scrolls provided a better than 99 percent confidence as far as the originality of content in the New Testament is concerned.

Archaeologists have also found manuscripts copies of the works of Julius Cesar, historian Herodotus, and Homer; the earliest from 1,500 years after they wrote (Robinson, 2003). These manuscripts demonstrate a meticulous approach to communication and history of the Bible, once again adding the confidence that what the Bible represents is original. The existence of the archaeological materials and sites give objective reasons to consider the Bible true and reliable.
