The memory is like a muscle! Train this muscle and it gets better and better.

“Memory Training” helps to improve the memorizing function of brain. The tools which “Memory Training” uses are called mnemonics . The main application area of “Memory Training” is the realm of the learning process.

This is one of some suitable definitions and confines of “Memory Training”. The definition only shows a short raw outline of the topic “Memory Training”. Besides, along this written assignment, the writers try to point out the methods, instruments and the application area of “Memory Training”.

The paper will give information about methods and instruments of “Memory Training,” but what about the aims of “Memory Training”? The aims of “Memory Training” normally are individual aims. Those like: easy learning of new foreign languages; the interest to improve the general education; “never again forgetting of birthdays” or telephone numbers; to hold presentations and speeches without any help (of cheat sheet) or only to improve the memory performance to register information faster?
Therefore, the aims of “Memory Training” are not significant for the present written assignment.

The following elaboration begins with the structure and the functions of the human brain, how it works, the process of memorizing and lastly the collaborations of the left and right hemisphere.

The next realm of “Memory Training” points out the different kinds of mnemonics. There are a lot of different methods, the writers only point out the main methods for “Memory Training”. An important partition of the mnemonics is the importance of optimizing outside influences in relation to the mnemonics and the learning process. What kind of basic possibilities exist to minimize them?

The last part of the main body is the subtopic “Easy Learning” which acts about methods and instruments to learn easier. Besides the mnemonics which are already important instruments the authors describe further methods and instruments to learn easier.

The topic “Memory Training” raises some questions like what is my profit, when can I see the first prosperities and why do companies instruct their people in using mnemonics?

Objectives and Topics

This paper examines the physiological and cognitive foundations of memory and provides a comprehensive overview of various mnemonics and learning strategies designed to enhance mental performance and learning efficiency.

  • Functional analysis of the human brain and its two hemispheres
  • Core mnemonics techniques including LOCI, Association, and Visualization
  • Strategies for optimizing learning environments and external influences
  • Practical application of "Easy Learning" methods such as Mind-Mapping and SQRRR
  • Enhancing reading performance through Speed Reading techniques

Excerpt from the Book

2.2.6 “LOCI – Technique”

“Man suche sich in Gedanken bestimmte Orte, mache sich Bilder von den Dingen, die man behalten möchte, und bringe diese Bilder dann an den verschiedenen Orten unter.”

LOCI is a word which is derived from the Latin word locus. This means location, lieu or place. The LOCI – Technique is a mnemonic which includes techniques like the “Senses – Technique” and the “Association”.

You have to imagine a specific room. In this room there are a lot of things. These positions are the position where you memorize information. It is often easier to use a good known place like the bedroom because of the well knowing of positions and of every item in this room.

If you want to memorize something you can imagine the bedroom. Then choose the positions in bedroom where the information should be stored. These positions should be clockwise to remember better the sequence of information. Then take the information and link them to a position in this room. After it associate the position with the information by using the association skill and the five senses.

Summary of Chapters

1 Introduction: Provides an overview of the importance of memory training and outlines the scope of the paper, including the functional analysis of the brain and various learning instruments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the core focus of this assignment?

The work primarily focuses on "Memory Training," exploring how humans can improve their memorization capabilities through specific biological understandings and applied learning strategies.

What are the central themes covered in the text?

The central themes include the anatomy and function of the brain (specifically the two hemispheres), various mnemonic techniques (like the LOCI or String-Technique), and modern learning methodologies such as Mind-Mapping and SQRRR.

What is the primary objective of the study?

The objective is to provide a guide on methods and instruments that make learning easier and more efficient, thereby helping individuals and companies optimize their information processing and memory performance.

Which scientific methods are analyzed?

The author analyzes cognitive principles like association and visualization, as well as structured learning frameworks like the SQRRR method and the Mind-Mapping technique developed by Tony Buzan.

What topics are discussed in the main section?

The main section covers the "Human Brain" architecture, diverse mnemonic tools, factors that optimize outside influences on learning, and practical techniques like Speed Reading and sectored learning.

Which keywords define this document?

Key terms include Mnemonics, Brain hemispheres, Memory performance, Mind-Mapping, SQRRR, Speed Reading, and Learning process efficiency.

How does the LOCI-Technique function?

The LOCI-Technique involves mentally placing information images into familiar locations within a known room, using a clockwise sequence to link information for better recall.

Why is the balance between the brain's hemispheres emphasized?

The author argues that modern education often over-promotes the left hemisphere (logical/rational). By training both hemispheres equally, especially through creative methods like Mind-Mapping, overall mental performance rises significantly.
