Abstract
In this study we present a translation into Spanish of Virginia WoROI¶VTo the lighthouse second chapter. Upon this comparative translation, we have exhaustively analyzed our work by systematizing the most suitable criteria for evaluation purposes, which we may encounter in recent Translation Quality Assessment studies. This self-analysis would be worth being considered by not only translators and interpreters but also by Comparative Literature specialists due to its high usefulness in literature, as well as those focusing on cultural studies. The results of the proposed method of analysis would also possess a significant pedagogic application for it deters students of Translation Studies from making future mistakes on future translation assignments along with fostering their awareness toward the cognitive process of translating.
Resumen
A continuación presentamos una traducción del segundo capítulo de To the lighthouse de Virginia Woolf. A partir de esta traducción, hemos analizado de forma exhaustiva nuestro trabajo sistematizando los criterios más adecuados con la consecución en los estudios de evaluación de calidad de traducciones más recientes. Este autoanálisis puede ser aplicado por traductores e intérpretes así como para estudiosos de Literatura Comparada o especialistas de estudios culturales. Los resultados de este método de análisis también cuenta con cierto valor pedagógico ya que permite a los estudiantes de Traducción e Interpretación que no cometan los mismos errores en el futuro y profundizar en la conciencia de que la traducción es un proceso cognitivo complejo.
