In this paper, a detailed evaluation of the food security situation in Africa will be attempted, highlighting the limitations faced by the continent. Food security has been defined by the United Nations’ Committee on World Food Security as the means through which all people have physical, social and economic access to adequate, safe, and nutritious food at all times . Food is a basic need along with clothing and shelter in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Number 2 which aims at ending hunger, achieving food security as well as improving nutrition .
