PROLOG: A NEW SCIENCE-BASED EPISTEMOLOGY

Pressures like the global migration challenge and the climate challenge will force the world and in particular national leaders and governments, IOs and NGOs, along with humanity at large, to progressively adopt hitherto unconventional vistas, optics or perspectives in the interest of human survival and sustainability of policies, decisions and processes in all spheres of life, in an awareness of interconnectedness of all phenomena on the planet and in the wider biosphere… What seems to emerge is an enhanced perceptual paradigm derived from leading-edge physics, namely from the quantum paradigm, that can account for and represent the wider consciousness required for the management of hitherto unfamiliar realities. The metaphor quantum consciousness - more specifically complementarity and uncertainty principles of Bohr and Heisenberg respectively - seems to be apt to be used as a higher-level holistic description of phenomena with their shades, shadows and light and their continua with many possible stances, perceptual positions and options:

Values continua of intercultural management can be subsumed as quantum cultural phenomena. The specific and the diffuse or holistic perception can be conceptualized quantum culturally. So can the local and the global along with the continuum that interconnects the two poles. The same applies to the cultural and the universal etc.

The metaphorical quantum paradigm enables us to consciously expand perceptual horizons and to use a new and more powerful quantum language for the perception of holistic phenomena that can trigger equally holistic and therefore sustainable actions, decisions and processes in all spheres of life. Quantum awareness provides a new adapted consciousness and language for the large-scale interrelated human challenges of our time. Global climate and global migration and survival challenges require this quasi imperative paradigm shift: The quantum perceptual consciousness paradigm shift.

PREFACE

The quantum paradigm is not the monopoly of hard science and engineering disciplines. As physics describes nature and life and as for example consciousness phenomena are also part of both, one may logically assume that quantum principles may also be applied to them at least metaphorically. Therefore, in this treatise, the term quantum paradigm is applied metaphorically. A quantum paradigm-based cognitive world revolution is a new, hard science-based conceptualization of an old message such as, for example, that of the revolutionary teachings of Jesus Christ in its own days and language. The change of mind and the shift of human consciousness entailed in the teachings of all true messengers of God can be reframed favorably in a more scientific jargon for the audience of our scientific-technical era. It provides the basis and a conceptual framework for what may be called quantum healing at the individual level and global quantum healing at the planetary level. Among the keys to it is a complementarity principle-based change in consciousness that entails not only a corresponding biological change, but also a global social and geopolitical change and thus a planetary global environmental change. In that sense the term world revolution is not frightening but rather the fulfilment of millennia of human hopes and aspirations.

In any case complementary vistas and perceptions of a given reality usually provide a more complete and more effective picture of the issue under examination. It can be applied very favorably at the individual as well as at the collective consciousness level - wherever awareness and consciousness processes are involved, and that is just about everywhere, where humans and their interactions with one another and with the world come into play - to global management, to geopolitical matters or to planetary survival issues of our era. And last but not least it can be applied very favorably to intercultural management issues and to global diversity management challenges, where shifts between or simultaneous awareness of universal and cultural aspects may contribute to the reconciliation of the seemingly irreconcilable. The world often is as we are ourselves, as we are able to perceive it. The perceiver or the observer is that which tends to be or become the world. Consciousness processes are highly creative processes. They link the inner and the outer world coherently and instead of starting by transforming the environment it is often advisable to start by an act of consciousness that enables a new perception followed by changes in the personal and world environment.

The late Stephen Hawking’s scientific legacy compels us to start tackling this issue based on quantum science that has proven effective for the conquest of the outer word. If applied sensibly to the inner world of man, the human predicament based on the prediction of the great scientist - who the world mourns these days -, according to which mankind will be faced sooner or later with the imperative need to emigrate from its earthly habitat to other planets in order to survive, may still be changed.

1 INNER CULTURE INTER CULTURE OUTER CULTURE

Inner culture, inter culture, outer culture: I would like to explore the deeper meaning of this interconnected triad, in order to gain some new insights into the world of culture and its management.

What is inner culture? Most interculturalists might answer this question by saying that it covers culture one, the refinement of the human heart and mind through the arts and sciences as well as the collective mental programming or mental software.

To me this type of understanding amounts to a merely horizontal perception of culture and more specifically inner culture because it does not seem to fully account for the mechanisms of the mind that operate behind the perception and the processing of culture. And therefore I would like to introduce a vertical dimension that also deals with the levels of perception of culture. The two together provide a more complete picture of what the term inner culture may mean. So, inner culture refers to an art and “science” of the perception - of the creative perception and processing of culture - which impacts the perception of cultural diversity as well as its interrelated processes and results. This expanded contextualization of culture leads to enhanced management options.

From this reflection a number of models will emerge which locate culture and its various aspects contained in the threefold expression in an expanded micro- macrocosmic continuum (this term refers to the totality of the culture phenomenon) which includes the continuum of the manager and the managed and where the processing and managing of culture can become less complex as well as more effective, because complexity is meaningfully structured under a new integrative roof of the human constitution. Let me simplify: As one ascends a mountain or as maybe astronauts or cosmonauts are marveling at the wonders of the blue planet, which they have never been aware of before this premiere of viewing the earth from this new optical perspective, so can the various optics of culture in the human mind and consciousness, i.e. the inner culture, provide new vistas and insights hitherto ignored and which may henceforth be fed into the way of how one interrelates culturally.

From this perspective I would like to note that it also covers what I have referred to a as the quantum cultural optic, which provides radically different but complementary perceptions of culture, such as an atomistic perception of the world of culture or a wholistic perception of culture. In analogy to the quantum paradigm, in particular to Niels Bohr’s complementarily principle, I can view the cultural universe as consisting of n particles of specific culture or I can look at it as a continuous ocean of waves. I can look at a specific culture or at the oneness of the field of culture and then contextualize the specific culture within this unified field of human civilization. So I can emphasize the static, specific or the dynamic in its totality.

This quantum approach is important because it has an impact on the management of the cultural subject-object continuum. I can either view the inner and the outer culture as an integrated continuum, in which the position of the observer impacts the observed or I can disconnect the continuum and assume that the cultural atom can be managed independently of the inner cultural position of the observer. The interconnection or the disconnection of inner and the outer culture impact intercultural effectiveness.

The integration of the two cultural spaces, the inner and the outer, creates a continuous space, in which the two interact in the sense that if I perceive waves and unity and the dynamics of the totality, the individual cultural atom of the specific culture is eclipsed and moves to the background of perception. Here the observer focuses on that which unifies the observer and the observed.

If the observer, on the other hand, perceives the individual atom, the dynamics of the totality are relegated to the background and remain unperceived. So the adoption of the cultural optic is crucial because it conditions the perception of outer culture: either I see only unity while diversity remains a quantité negligeable or I see only diversity while unity remains a quantité negligeable. Of course this is a mental model and the user needs to fill in and bridge the gap between its nature and real live.

One practical consequence is that the unified field optic - the integration of the continuum - ignores cultural dilemmas, not in the sense that it cannot handle them and therefore avoids them, but rather in the sense that it transcends them by operating only in that space of consciousness which is integrative and non-divisive. The extent to which this optic can be reciprocated by the outer cultural environment depends on the evolution of the inner cultural optic of the outer cultural human environment.

The disconnection of the referred to inner - outer culture continuum can only see the divisive, diversity and at best the synergistic potential between the inner and the outer cultural environment at the expense of the unified field, in which there are no cultural problems to be solved nor reconciled, because they do not exist in this optic; there is only oneness.

One can see that the positioning of the inner sensory system fosters a state of mind and consciousness which determines the way the perceiver observes and perceives outer culture. And these perceptions can be diametrically opposed but equally valid and complementary. So far we have been applying the complementarily theory Bohr’s as a metaphor for the perception of culture. In both cases the instruments of perception determines that which is perceived: the perception of particles in the subatomic world corresponds to the perception of specific cultures in the cultural world, whereas the perception of waves in the subatomic world corresponds to the perception of a unified dynamic field in the cultural world. The wave-particle duality can be translated metaphorically as a unity-diversity duality. Thus the complementarity theory highlights the accountability of the perceiver of culture with regard to cultural processes. Being aware of the creative potentiality of perceiver’s consciousness as a determinant of intercultural processes and outcomes the cultural subject has to be careful to choose the appropriate optic. It is by itself the bigger part of the intercultural management process. He is accountable for his choice which has a creative potential. However, human consciousness is not as limited as the wave or particle detectors in physics. In its range of freedom It can go beyond this limitation and be fully, actively aware of the two potentialities simultaneously and it can therefore switch between the two modes if he/she considers it necessary. When problems become insurmountable barriers for example one can adopt the wave or unified field optic in which problems are circumnavigated. One operates metaphorically speaking in the blue sky above the clouds and turbulences. The quantum optical approach can help develop such an intercultural autopilot.

This approach which is based on a metaphorical use of Niels Bohr’s complementarity theory can be enhanced and completed by drawing on yet another quantum physics principle, i.e. that of Werner Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle – according to which one cannot simultaneously determine the position and the momentum of a subatomic particle - in the following way. And again we use it as mere metaphor.

If the intercultural manager wants to draw on specific cultural traits of a particular culture he will adopt the particle optic of the culture at hand. For this purpose he will have to exactly define the position of the particle in the unified field of the world of cultures. Here the knowledge of the precise coordinates of the particular culture plays a role, in order to work with its specific momentum, its dynamic of its interfacing properties and behavior. So the position of the cultural particle or the particular cultures under consideration as derived from the aggregate models of culture with their specific country culture values as parameters for culture analysis are helpful here, because they provide the exact cultural position of the particular cultures. One cannot judge their momentum, their dynamic behaviour, as little as the perception of their dynamic momentum allows to state about their position. The perception of the dynamic behavior of a particular culture representative depends not only on the position of the particle but also on the positioning of the consciousness of the cultural subject. And this refers us back to the complementarity theory. The two form a circle and together fully account for the cultural positions, intercultural processes and intercultural outcomes.

The transcultural approach combines the traditional intercultural and the quantum cultural approach. I have integrated the potentialities of the two in a transcultural management model, whose draft I would like to represent in the following. The creative potential inherent in the cultural awareness and consciousness of the cultural perceiver is located on the noetic dimension of the inner cultural architecture of the intercultural manager in his transnational management context. From this inner platform he presides over the processes and outcomes in the entire inner-outer integrated cultural space. It is an ultimate control and command center of the transcultural manager, where he has the discretion to operationalize a quantum cultural logic resulting in the respective cultural scenarios. The integrative hierarchical logic is based on the analogy of the neurophysiologic principle of functional subordination, which postulates that higher nervous centers govern lower ones. Thus, the noetic- psycho-somatic architecture is a top-bottom control and integration structure and process, where the higher dimensions of the edifice produce the quantum cultural inner and outer cultural reality:

I have also multi-modeled it in various technical metaphors for technically minded interculturalists and students of intercultural management as follows:

and accessing this resource re-establishes the structural and functional integrity, the natural culture management principle. The following diagramme and legend illustrate - through the addition of the ethical and noetic dimensions - the strategies, synergies and potentialities of a '7D 360° Transcultural Management Model', as opposed to a 90° conventional synergy model. It has the power to not only manage dimensional dilemmas, but cultural programming as such.

-Based on the integrative virtues of the transcultural or noetic approach, I would also like to propose my own global culture clustering model with the noetic dimension “N” at its center. It is pragmatic and simple and uses the language of the time. ALG, reminding us of programming logic, of alg orithms, stands for:

A frica, A sia, A rabia, A nglo, L atin and G ermanic

AAAALG or short ALG The culture ALGorithm

- is customizable: you can stretch the radii to regionally differentiate the big culture areas.
- Highlights the bipolarization of the world in interpenetrating complementary triads of emergent (Africa, Asia, Arabia) and developed countries (Anglo-, Latin, Germanic)
- Focuses on the present day Anglo - Arab-Islamic culture divide: culture-clash
- Is a manager-centered culture-clustering, integrating inner and outer culture.

It is easy to memorize the ALG-clustering, with some key attributes as a first holistic approach to culture. The practical use of it is that in a way, as transculturalists, we can position ourselves at the center at an equidistance, where the macro-system software is located, the algorithms permeating all subsystems of the macro-system, as well as the awareness, knowledge and skills of the researcher; the programming and conditioning that has generated the algorithm at the hardware level of culture, so to speak, the visible observable differences in behaviour. This centre is the center which has the power to integrate the inner and the outer space: the combination of noetics and equidistance for optimum transcultural efficiency of the researcher and global leader. The practical purpose is to remain centered amidst diversity, in the eye of the hurricane, instead of being drawn hither and thither by internal and external forces, in terms of sympathy and antipathy, self- and other-conditioning. It may be the most strategic positioning in the inner and outer space alike, the subjective and the objective, in order to work impartially, objectively with the necessary analytical distance while empathy is not excluded, because the transcultural manager is guided by altruism for the whole. The deep-seated, strongly emotional and evaluative nature of cultural conditioning can thus be managed without effort. This mooring and anchoring amidst the clashing waves of the ocean of diversity is imperative as a rock of ultimate incorruptibility, integrity and safety, while managing the inner and outer space and it helps not to get dragged out.

It is possible to enhance the ALG-algorithm and complete it by squaring it with the cultures you may have to cover additionally: squaring metaphorically, geometrically and conceptually.

And you may additionally be able to square the circle of cultures by actually centering the construct in a real circle as a symbol of wholeness and completeness to account for anything you may feel has been omitted. If you like you can add more outer perimeters to add strategic dimensions depending on your values and needs for greater effectiveness and sustainability of the work you may be required to accomplish.

Epistemologically one has thus evolved from a Newtonian deterministic notion of culture, via a quantum cultural indeterminate approach towards a modern creatively probabilistic approach where the consciousness of the perceiver of culture can creatively contribute to the manifestation of a range of scenarios all latently existent in the culture perceiver’s consciousness. Outer culture thus depends on the creativity of inner culture. “Transcultural quantum optics” goes beyond cultural determinism or "either-or" indeterminism to access a “creative cultural probabilism” depending on inner culture factors and processes. A progressive shift of the focus of cultural awareness from the cultural object to the cultural subject has taken place. And this brief history of interculturalism/transculturalism with its inner, outer and inter/transcultural aspects can be presented a follows.

This brief presentation of a new approximation to culture and its management is explained in more detail in my TRANSCULTURAL MANAGEMENT – TRANKULTURELLES MANAGEMENT, from which most of the models are taken.

The multidimensionally derived noetic/transcultural level in the global managerial psychological edifice allows the integration of intercultural management research and enables a “quantum cultural” approach to transnational management which has been the key topic in this essay. Thus the totality of culture with its myriad aspects finds a new home under a new, more effective roof.

2 THIRD MILLENNIUM QUANTUM CIVILISATION

Our age is confronted with unprecedented challenges in world history. These challenges can hardly be met successfully by the paradigms of the past millennium. Therefore a new and enhanced problem consciousness resulting in innovative problem approaches is indicated in the very interest of the survival and welfare of mankind.

Anybody with open eyes can see how the patterns of the past are reenacted on a daily basis at local, regional and geopolitical levels. Even the present rearmament of world powers in East and West follows a déjà-vu pattern to an extent that presumed deterrence can escalate into large scale war at any moment - unless at least strategic leaders develop and are guided by a new awareness of the axiomatic of human consciousness pattern.

A new level and quality of inner problem awareness and consciousness with its “quantic” tendency of externalizing inner processes as outer reality in a continuous field is required; the understanding that inner conditions impact outer conditions according to their nature and quality. Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches have been effective and continue to be so, if they are driven by sustainable and ethical attitudes and intentions as well as by the unconditional will to bridge seemingly unsurmountable barriers.

Synergistic dilemma resolution among other science-derived approaches to advanced strategic thinking in view of complex problem resolution have been effective for the emergence of a global high-tech, high-knowledge society. Yet this technical intelligence does not seem to be able to solve material challenges and problems beyond the level of skills and sophistication required for the colonization of extraterrestrial spheres at the macro scale as well as the ever greater mastery at the micro scales of matter and energy.

In order to transcend and master the cyclical repetition of more specifically human problems that remain a sword of Damocles suspended over human existence, our era requires a new awareness of human consciousness processes by themselves and in particular of their “quantic” nature, metaphorically speaking, which shall be dealt with in the following chapters. The metaphorical application of the quantum paradigm, whose original scientific application has brought about the greatest technological innovations in human history, can be similarly effective at the human software level of the psychological human infrastructure, as man and matter are both part of nature and energy that the quantum paradigm can deal with successfully.

If the - metaphorically speaking - quantic nature of the human psychological infrastructure becomes intelligible and evident to man he achieves greater awareness and control of processes of perception and decision within that infrastructure that are partly determined by biological and energetic conditions, which translate as behaviours at the psychological level. Understanding these processes from their biological roots as well as the ability to integrate them from the top of the psychological hierarchy edifice according to principle of neuroscience enables man to better manage himself as well as his social and strategic interaction. It further enhances and stabilizes strategic equilibria that otherwise hinge on fragile, classical deterrence etc.

Awareness of the axiomatic of the knower and the perceiver in their relationship with the known will result in a new awareness of consciousness and thought processes in problem solving and decision making of strategists and leaders as well as of mankind at large leading to a new civilization based on a new self-awareness of the interdependent human psychophysiologic architectures and infrastructure and their axiomatic.

Emergent planetary as well as interplanetary problem solving on the horizon can be enhanced beyond monistic and multidimensional complexity management synergistic thinking by multiperspectivistic, integrative multilevel thinking based on and governed by neurophysiologic axiomatic that can become second nature to man because it is natural, though relatively unexplored and absent in socialization and academic curricula. Complete 360° multidimensional awareness that follows, which is governed by metaphorical quantum paradigm, reveals issues not only holistically and leads to holistic solutions but neuroscience paradigm helps additionally in integrating the myriads of optics sustainably and naturally.

What has hitherto remained in the shadow of the mind and consciousness can be illumined and faced successfully based on the application of scientific metaphor and proven theory that can prove as effective in the psychological field as it has proved to be in the field of matter and energy and human nature. A new science of life and of integral man can follow that enables man to master his life and his future preventing his otherwise critical predicament if there is no change within and therefore no change in the world outside.

The key to a sustainable future is inside man and it is within human reach - without scientific training. Where there is a will there is a way – THE WAY out of the past into a brighter future of mankind in the 3rd millennium. The following series of studies and personal research provides building blocks for a new civilization based on a new epistemological and cognitive strategic culture – an applicable third millennium metaculture of the mind and consciousness based on hard science axiomatic.

3 The Quantum Mind

Many problems in this world seem to be due to man’s insufficient knowledge of his own nature. The community of scientists and the sum total of human knowledge gathered throughout the history of science and man’s learning in general – a feature that singularly distinguishes and characterizes him – were unable so far to solve the core problem of inner man, whose condition is externalized in the outer world. Neither his inner nature nor its interrelationship with the outer world have been understood well enough to be applied constructively and sustainably to man, humanity and world management at large. Yet, this quantum leap of human self-awareness and knowledge has become imperative due to quantitative-qualitative complexity challenges of the global, the planetary and the emergent cosmic or interplanetary phase of human evolution.

Man and mankind are either governed and driven by their nature or they govern the latter. In order to be the master of one’s house one has to know it. The human house or the temple of the Holy Spirit as the Christian Bible calls it still remains a riddle after millennia of human labour aimed at lifting the veil of its ultimate secret.

Maybe in the third millennium the fragments gathered so far can be understood as a whole; a wholeness that liberates man from the terror inflicted by its fragments that assume the shape and form of endless dialectics and conflicts that resist reconciliation and integration and which keep threatening the very existence of man and human survival. The major threat to man does not primarily come from outside but rather from within man, from his own nature, in particular that of the mind. The mind appears as the savior as well as the destroyer of mankind. Wise men say we should only use the mind as a problem solving machine. But they ignore its wholeness, for in its wholeness also irreversible problem creation capabilities are lurking and want to express itself in the same way as the problem solving capabilities. The very definition of the mind as a problem solver implies the opposite, for problem solving is only a response to the presence of problems caused by the mind or otherwise.

The very mind seems to be a quantum phenomenon if we look at culturally diverse assumptions about the human mind. South Asia considers, on the basis of its cultural prime quest for truth, that the mind is material, whereas the west considers it as immaterial. The very substratum of our thinking seems to be quantic in the sense of a wave particle-duality postulated by Niels Bohr’s Complementarity Theory nearly a century ago. And the brain which underpins and supports the mind is referred to by Charles Hampden Turner and Fons Trompenaars in their dilemma research and dilemma solving theory as also functioning in the wave-particle duality mode in the sense that the left brain hemisphere seems to be governed by the particle mode, while the right seems to be governed by the wave mode. The brain as well as the mind therefore seems to be cast in duality whose dialectics seemingly cause unsolvable problems. Man seems to be caught in his own nature as long as he cannot bring more light onto it so as to illumine it as a whole. The metaphorical light referred to by various writers and scholars is that which illumines the shadows that are cast by one fragment of the mind that puts complementary ones at a dead angle and impedes aware and conscious full perception – including of its dual nature that in essence is an inseparably unitary one with its complementary aspects and modes.

Dilemma resolution ultimately consists in the awareness that conflicting assumptions occur based on the structural and functional duality of the human perceptual infrastructure of mind and brain. The solution of many problems can naturally occur based on the understanding of the nature of the perceiver.

The great Greek philosopher Aristotle postulates that two opposite ideas in the same space exclude each other. This applies if the subject functions in the particle mode only. It corresponded to the Ancient Greek epistemological paradigm. The quantum paradigm which revolutionized knowledge and understanding of nature permits and highlights a further going reading of nature including that of man who is part of that nature, whose mental capabilities and consciousness are crowning it. The whole is animated by one underlying spirit and consciousness that finds dual expression in the relative spatiotemporal world. This spatiotemporal condition also seems to be reflected in the duality of brain functions in the sense that the left brain hemisphere seems to be correlated to time and to the psyche, whereas the right brain hemisphere seems to be correlated to space and to the body. Relative man is cast in the light of duality that shines through his entire biological constitution. It is the result of the beginning of his physical life, i.e. of the fertilization of the ovum by the sperm. Based on this duality in unity from the very start of his physical life the entire human existence is determined by this human condition without alternative.

When man functions exclusively in the particle mode this mode has its own logic of which dialectics and dilemmas with ensuing conflicts are the rule. They cannot be solved by the agent that caused them. Einstein wisely stated that many problems cannot be solved in a given formulation, but that they require a reformulation to be soluble. He represents the link between and the transition from the old to the new science paradigm, which we are using here metaphorically because the wider nature and the human nature duality are characterized by underlying oneness that also manifests as duality of human and wider nature. And Aristotle had the farsighted conviction that the art of metaphor is the noblest. So we use it mindfully. Mindful means aware of the duality, including that of metaphor.

The reformulation of a problem at a higher level implies a progress from one mode of perception or brain function to the complementary one and as a consequence a more complete understanding of reality with its diverse aspects and readings that are possible. By thus expanding perceptual capabilities human consciousness horizons are extended so as to be able, for example, to perceive unity and diversity of man or the shapes and forms and colours of diversity as concomitant with underlying wholeness. The duality aware and integrative mind is a feature of the metaphorical quantum mind as well as the fact that the nature of the perceiver seems to cocreate a world according it its perceptual mode in which it functions. I have called this the quantum effect of the human mind that also has its consciousness aspect. When the mind is complemented by the consciousness aspect of the psychological constitution of man he can perceive the concomitance of the underlying universal one and unity and of the spatiotemporally relative mental fragments. In this enhanced perception resides the key to reconciliation. They are reconciled and even one before the mind integrates them. Integration and reconciliation are but the effort of the mind to gain the other shore beyond the duality of the dialectic waves of the mind.

The metaphorical quantum paradigm is a noble tool to enhance human problem solving capabilities. The progress from the mental to the consciousness paradigm and the simultaneous awareness thereof is paralleled by Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle and Bohr’s Complementarity Theory that postulate expansion and limits of the mind respectively. Nobel Prize Laureate Erwin Schrödinger has put the dots on the i when he pointed to the conclusion that without consciousness there is no universe. This consciousness needs to be looked at and its nature understood in order to make sense of its relative expressions. And depending on whether one opts to function at one level or at the other and to perceive in the specific particle mode or in the diffuse wave mode one yields different perceptual fruit and it is that fruit that is a criterion for the ethical quality of the decider and of the decision, for the mind mode often tends to be disintegrative due to its logic, whereas the consciousness mode tends to be integrative and peace promoting.

4 Kindling the Quantic Flame of Love, Human Survival, Peace and Welfare

Love can be said to be one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, cryptic primal force known, or rather relatively unknown, although it has been there since the beginning of time and beyond. And as a time and space transcendent force it will outlast man and mankind. Due to its combined material and immaterial nature it escapes scientific analysis that is limited to the realm of time.

In order to try to understand and to possibly harness the human equivalent of nuclear power in nature at large one can try to approach it through quantum physics metaphor. Connecting one of the most revolutionary hard sciences of human history to one of the most powerful and enigmatic phenomena known one may be able to understand it more fully, beyond its romantic and literary aspects.

Based on the mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal one may assume that there is no way of approaching it in any way through the intellect, for, according to him, man is made of three orders, i.e. , that of the flesh, that of the mind and that of love, wisdom and the divine. The order of the flesh and that of the mind have no inkling of the order of love whatsoever and are unable to have any sense or vibration of love. The three Pascalian orders can be said to inhabit the same human house or body of the spirit while they are completely compartmentalized without any relationship among each other. The values of the three orders make only sense to those who inhabit the three respective spaces of the house. The highest order of love and divine wisdom is of sui generis and only those, who share its realm and have access to it, value and understand it, while the order of the mind and that of the flesh cannot generate any vibration of love.

As Pascal has systematized and functionally correlated the inner constitution of integral man with its material, mental and spiritual components, quantum physics metaphor is a hard science based language that may be used to further describe man more completely by taking in account his tangible as well as his less tangible aspects that make up his wholeness.

Based on Bohr’s complementarity theory nature can either be conceptualized as particles or as waves, depending on whether one uses a particle detector or a wave detector. Both readings of nature are applicable and provide complementary perceptions of nature. Similarly Pascal’s members of the three orders are also only able to understand the values and processes of their own orders and are utterly immune and insensitive to those of the complementary orders of and within the whole house.

And a metaphorical application of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle that in physics states that the position and the speed of a subatomic particle cannot be determined simultaneously and that they eclipse each other perceptually, can be interpreted as meaning that they are at dead angles to each other. One can be determined only at the expense of the determination the other. That further emphasizes the limitation and fragmentation of scientific determination or human perceptual capabilities of matters in their unfragmented wholeness.

For centuries and millennia in science as much as in human affairs across civilizations man has been caught in the grosser, seemingly more tangible particle perception mode scientifically as well as psychologically and socially. Based on the quantum metaphor this reading of the human and of the scientific universe excluded the seemingly less tangible wave aspects of matters under consideration.

Pascal’s orders of the more tangible flesh and of the intellect or mind and that of the less tangible love and of the divine are reflected diachronically as hard science paradigm shifts from a particle conception of the world to a wave conception of the world, followed by their integration as complementary vistas and aspects that describe nature more wholistically and completely.

Pascal’s philosophy may be enhanced be more modern quantum notions of nature and successfully applied for civilisation change management.

A scientific reading of love and it’s harnessing for civilization change management is possible if one perceives – a hundred years after the quantum physicals breakthrough paradigm shift – the particle aspects of the flesh and of the intellect as well as the wave as aspect of love, that together account for human nature more fully. The simultaneous active awareness of both aspects is possible by human consciousness that transcends the limitations of scientific instruments. It provides the insight that even while the complementary aspects may be hidden they are always there potentially and can be actualized. As the two sides of a coin they are concomitant and inseparable. A transformation of mankind is simply conditioned by the simultaneous awareness of the concomitant presence of both sides without alternative. Man has been conditioned to perceptual astigmatism for eons and to be only aware of the particle side of the flesh and of intellect to serve agendas of power and domination. This reading of nature and of man was deficitary and destructive over the ages.

Today, based on Pascal’s insight in human nature and its enhancement based on modern hard science quantum paradigm, the historically fatal, lopsided perceptual astigmatism can by corrected by clarifying and highlighting the roles of complementary particle and wave aspects, i.e. those of the mental and of the altruistic love aspects that are inseparable and complementary aspects of man in his wholeness, whose constitutional integration alone can produce sustainable results.

The wave function of love and the particle function of reason are the two complementary pillars of human existence. If one removes one of them the human architecture as well as that of the interdependent world crumble into dust. The alliance of the temporal modes and of the eternal make man’s projects resistant to time and temporal influences. He builds on solid ground - on indestructible rock - in all spheres of live, locally, nationally and globally. Such is the foundation of a sustainable future, in which the sword of Damocles suspended over his head and that of mankind at large is durably removed.

This imperative of an enhanced awareness of the complementary roles of functions within the human structure can be further deepened and sharpened by a metaphor derived from neurophysiology that underpins the entire biological architecture, structures and functions, of man:

The human neurophysiological architecture is basically composed of two complementary systems, i.e. of the pyramidal and of the extrapyramidal system: The extrapyramidal system has an ereismatic or support function, while the higher cortical functions that govern language, analytical thinking etc. are located in the pyramidal system. It is a wonderful instance the biological and more specifically neurophysiologic translation of N. Bohr’s complementarity principle. Complementary pyramidal and extrapyramidal systems that enhance each other synergistically constitute the integral human neurophysiologic architecture without whose concomitant presence, integration and healthy function biological life will be undermined.

Similarly, individual, social and global life will be undermined if the supportive flame of love and its sacred fire do not support and wing the light of the complementary intellect, which remains barren and sterile without the dynamising and humanizing support of the flame of love. They are as the left and the right hand without whose proper coordination by the brain man cannot even boil an egg or perform any elementary action successfully. Similarly all human skill and expertise will be counterproductive unless the complementary aspects of love and divine wisdom on the one hand and of the intellectual capabilities on the other hand are integrated according to the design plan of man for which there is no alternative, as there is no body of exchange that can be changed by man’s willing.

All civilizations across time and space have therefore had the intuition that complete self-awareness (vidya, gnothi seauton or nosce te ipsum in Sanskrit, Greek and Latin respectively) is the actual key to any sustainable change management of human destiny. Human history provides worldwide evidence of its absence that results in endless cycles of conflict patterns until human awareness of the complementary roles of the various aspects of his constitution provide the psychological launching pad that raises him beyond his otherwise rather predetermined, dire predicament.

Love is the missing link that hereby plays a role comparable to booster rockets of spacecrafts in space exploration. And it can be researched and systematically cultivated in view of the greatest revolution of love of all time that has been taught and foreseen by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. Now we can frame it additionally in psychological and science terms so that it may at last materialize.

5 Quantum Cosmic Communication

This essay employs quantum terminology metaphorically. Since times immemorial cultures and civilizations have been trying to unravel the mystery of creation and of the universe. Man’s ability to ask questions, to interconnect answers and to recognize cause-effect relationships prompted him to penetrate ever more deeply into the mystery of creation.

Most cultures and civilizations pushed their questioning to the point of asking what interconnected the whole of the universe, the visible and the invisible alike. Answers to those last questions about what sustained the universe and man were offered in the form of consciousness in South-Asia, in the form of Chi or Ki in East Asia, in the form of personal Gods and deified entities in other parts of the world. All of them seem to contain some of what we assume to be the truth to this very day. Ancient Greece, the Cradle of Western civilization came up with the term ether as the fifth quintessential element that, as prana or Chi/Ki(Chinese/Japanese) connected the entire field of the world. And these beliefs are being adhered to by many cultures to this very day. Even quantum physics with its refinement as quantum field theory could not go beyond an electromagnetic interconnected field that seems to hold together the tangible universe. In its representatives’ views electromagnetic waves constituted the interconnected field that supported the whole. This assumption was extended, as the dominant science paradigm of the era, from the microcosm of subatomic particles also readable as waves since Bohr’s wave-particle theory of the early 20th century to the macrocosm including the universe of man, who seems to occupy a position of the middle on the continuum from infinity to infinity. The latter was assumed to be the case by the French philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal. As a creature of the middle this position suggested interdependence in relationship to the periphery that entailed that middle. Although, the term interconnected field emerged only later in particular in connection with the quantum paradigm.

Chi or Ki, Prana or Ether, Consciousness readable as energy and energy as the universe, and since the advent of modern western science, electromagnetic waves, suchlike were about the answers to the inquiry into the nature of the ultimate quid or substance that underpinned and substantiated the whole with its diversity of manifestations of the material and immaterial kind.

Interestingly all of them can be provided some evidence for by those cultures and civilization that came up with the respective answers to the eschatological question they all have posed. Inner and outer techniques and technologies which are intuitive-awareness based and those which we call science today have led to the answers which can also be validated by culture-dependent internal or external evidence of a more inner or outer science. Yet with the awareness of integrated fields the diverse approaches to the answer of the eschatological question of the nature of the universe and man, the diversity of approaches appear as complementary optics of the truth at the center from the periphery of the circle or field.

Life, matter, consciousness, information, energy, waves or smallest building blocks seem to be different codifications of the one thing which cannot be understood beyond its diverse expressions of that enigmatic, cryptic quid beyond human understanding and perceptual capability referred to be those various manifestations of it. Seemingly that is the prime human value to which all other values, material and immaterial ones, are reducible, because much of the human turmoil is about a more of those expressions of the unnamable quid. As it seems to be the underlying apple of discord to human intercultural and interpersonal struggles, the mediation of those struggles may be favourably addressed at that more fundamental level of its diverse expressions. By getting closer to the identification of their deeper rooted cause they may be understood more deeply and solved more easily.
