The popularity of the transformational leadership model has continued to grow in recent years. Northouse (2021) describes transformational leadership as a model that transforms and changes individuals. Thus, a transformational leader can inspire people to find ways to change and grow. This type of leadership entails an assessment of the subjects’ motives, solutions to their needs, and an appreciation for them to realize success.
A notable figure that embodies the qualities of a transformational leader in my life is my current student leader in college. This person has helped find solutions to conflicts at school and encouraged fellow students to improve and innovate. In an institutional setting that traditionally expects strict compliance, my student leader is often at the forefront in pushing for creativity, empowering fellow learners, inspiring change, listening to divergent opinions, and collaborating with every stakeholder.

Excerpt from the Book
Individual Consideration
Mentorship and relationship-building are other components of transformational leadership. A transformational leader appreciates every person's uniqueness and understands their specific needs, mentorship styles, and contributions to the institution (White, 2022). My college student leader often coaches and advises the students he leads. He mentors his followers and helps every member understand their potential and self-worth. As a person with individual consideration qualities, he often encourages his fellow students to reach their goals and bolster the school's reputation.
In contrast, the former college student leader adopted a Laissez-faire approach to leadership. This leader fostered an environment where his subjects could make crucial decisions. Notably, he abdicated responsibilities and avoided making decisions, leading to a lack of direction among the people he led. The former student leader also lacked the will to mentor his followers and help them reach their potential and self-worth, resulting in low confidence among fellow students.
