This text provides an overview of Wajir South Administrative Post (AP), situated in Wajir County within Kenya's North Eastern Region. It delves into the geographical coordinates, climatic conditions, and sociodemographic aspects of the county. Wajir County, characterized as a semi-arid region in ecological zones V-VI, experiences two distinct rainy seasons annually. However, frequent droughts and flash floods have been increasingly impacting the livelihoods of its inhabitants.
The text further explores the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census data, projecting population figures for 2020 and 2022, with a focus on gender distribution and age demographics. Wajir County comprises six sub-counties and 30 wards, predominantly relying on pastoralism as a way of life. The establishment of permanent water points has led to the growth of small settlements, contributing to population growth and resource-related conflicts among clans.
Additionally, the text highlights vulnerable groups within the Wajir South AP, including orphans, children living with elderly parents, and those with special needs, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of World Vision's Wajir South AP program with various governmental and non-governmental partners to address these challenges and implement projects in the region.

Project Objective and Research Focus
The primary objective of this baseline and evaluation study is to assess the Wajir South Area Programme by establishing performance benchmarks for key strategies, determining the impact of development interventions on the community, and providing evidence-based data to inform future programming, advocacy, and strategic decision-making for the 2021-2025 period.
- Measurement of progress toward strategy indicator targets and Child Well-being (CWB) outcomes.
- Assessment of the effectiveness of community engagement, sponsorship, and protection initiatives.
- Evaluation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure performance and accessibility.
- Identification of gaps in service delivery and socio-cultural barriers to child development.
- Analysis of the sustainability of project interventions and community ownership.
Auszug aus dem Buch
3.2.8 Proportion of female and male adolescents who know of the presence of services and mechanisms to receive and respond to reports of abuse, neglect, exploitation or violence against children
The survey revealed that 48% (41.0% males and 55.3% females) of the adolescents knew what to do whenever they are subjected to abusive circumstances by any member of the community. Majority of the respondents (45%) comprising 46% males and 44% females, would report the problem to friends and family. This is due to the belief in parents who would help in handling the matter in an amicable way. However, there are other who would take the matter to law enforcement officers through the local administration (chief) and community leaders to ensure that justice is served.
