Parental involvement in children's education is a topic of contemporary interest and significance in the line of educational research. Parents are oftentimes regarded as the child's first teachers, and their actions largely influence their children's education and learning. As guardians, guides, and mentors, the parents possess the power to actively support and massively subordinate their children's development as students. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between parents' involvement and the academic performance of the students within the unique context of the University of Cebu at Pardo and Talisay Inc. The research used a correlational approach to determine whether there is a significant relationship between parents' involvement and the student's academic performance. Utilizing the correlational design, relationships between the variables are examined without any of the variables being under the researchers' direct control or manipulation. The results of the study showed that there is a positive correlation between the variables. However, the study also found that some students experience parental pressure, which can have a negative impact on their academic performance. It is recommended that parents find a balance between involvement and pressure to support their children's academic success and inform the development of strategies to promote and enhance positive parenting, both at home and in educational settings, to benefit students' intellectual development.

Chapter Summaries
Abstract: This study investigates the relationship between parental involvement and academic performance among senior high school students at the University of Cebu at Pardo and Talisay Inc., using a correlational approach. The findings reveal a positive correlation between the variables, but also highlight the negative impact of parental pressure. The study recommends finding a balance between parental involvement and pressure to foster academic success and calls for strategies to promote positive parenting in both home and school environments.
Introduction: This chapter sets the stage for the study by discussing the significance of parental influence, both supportive and pressurizing, on students' academic achievements. It highlights the importance of understanding how parental involvement and expectations impact students' mindset, behaviors, and academic performance, specifically focusing on the unique context of the University of Cebu at Pardo and Talisay Inc. and its senior high school students. It also reviews existing literature presenting contrasting views on the effects of parental involvement, some showing positive correlations with academic success, while others caution against excessive parental control.
Objectives of the Study: This chapter clearly outlines the research's primary objective: to comprehensively analyze the influence of parental involvement on the academic performance of senior high school students at the University of Cebu at Pardo and Talisay, Inc. It details the specific aspects of parental involvement to be evaluated, including social-psychological support, supervision of schoolwork, practical support, parental expectations, and obligations. The aim is to provide insights into the complex relationship between these factors and academic performance, ultimately informing the development of strategies to optimize parental support for student success and well-being.
Methodology: The study utilized a correlational research design to explore the relationship between parental involvement and academic performance. Parental involvement was measured using a modified survey questionnaire, and academic performance was assessed using first-semester general average grades. The study involved the entire senior high school student population across various academic strands, adhering to strict ethical protocols, including obtaining informed consent.
Results and Discussions: This chapter presents the results of the survey administered to senior high school students, analyzed to determine the correlation between parental involvement and academic performance. The data, presented in tables, shows the demographic breakdown of respondents (male/female) and their academic performance. Analysis of the survey responses concerning parental involvement in terms of quarterly grades and school participation reveals generally low levels of parental involvement in demanding high grades or controlling extracurricular activities. A higher level of parental involvement was observed in providing encouragement following poor grades. The overall findings suggest a complex relationship where parental encouragement is positive but excessive pressure is detrimental.
