The Value of Polytechnic Libraries in the North-Central Zone. An Assessment of Selected Polytechnic Libraries

This study investigated the value of Polytechnic Libraries in North Central Zone. Survey research technique was used and structured questionnaires were the main instrument to collect data from 100 respondents out of which 80 respondents yielded a response rate of 80% and respondents from selected polytechnic librarians yielded a response rate of 100%.

The value of Polytechnic Libraries in North-Central zone cannot be over-emphasized. Academic libraries are those that are established in tertiary institutions such as Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education etc. Their major function is to provide Information resources and services that support the attainment of the broad objectives of Teaching Learning and Research activities of the parent institution also research and the advancement of knowledge in a wide variety of subjects. It is a central service or unit of operation set up to provide location, materials and facilities for study, academic library is to serve as an auxiliary to the parent institution in carrying out its objectives.

This project assesses the value of polytechnic libraries in the North-Central zone of Nigeria. The main objective is to evaluate the resources, services, and overall impact of selected polytechnic libraries on students and researchers.
