Bu çalışma, 20. yüzyıl başlarında feminist hareketin etkisiyle doğan ve Lily Braun tarafından geliştirilen "Einküchenhaus" (Tek Mutfak Konutu) konseptini merkeze almaktadır. Çalışmanın temel amacı, özellikle kadınların mesleki faaliyetlerini kolaylaştırmak hedefiyle ortaya çıkan bu sosyal konut türünü, tarihsel süreç içindeki benzerlerini ve günümüzdeki modern yansımalarını incelemektir.
Sanayileşme ve kentleşmeyle birlikte derinleşen sosyal sorunlara bir reform önerisi olarak sunulan bu projeler, ne yazık ki sıklıkla kısa ömürlü olmuştur. Bu kapsamda, çalışma İkinci Dünya Savaşı öncesinden Otto Fick'in Kopenhag'daki "Service House" ve Viyana'daki "Heimhof" projelerini analiz etmektedir. Savaş sonrası dönem için ise, Le Corbusier'nin Marsilya'daki "Unité d'Habitation" projesi, temel bir vaka çalışması olarak irdelenmektedir.
Çalışma, bu tarihsel örneklerden yola çıkarak, 20. yüzyıl sonlarında Viyana ve Zürih'te ortaya çıkan çağdaş kolektif yaşam biçimlerini – "co-housing" ve "ortak olanaklı" toplu konutlar – Einküchenhaus konseptinin modern devamı olarak ele almaktadır.
This study examines the "Einküchenhaus" (Single-Kitchen House) concept, a form of social housing that emerged in the early 20th century under the influence of the feminist movement and was pioneered by thinkers like Lily Braun. The primary aim of this work is to examine this housing typology—designed to facilitate women's professional activities—along with its historical precedents and contemporary iterations.
Presented as a reformist solution to the social problems brought on by industrialization, these projects were often short-lived. The study analyzes pre-World War II examples, including Otto Fick's "Service House" in Copenhagen and the "Heimhof" project in Vienna. For the post-war period, Le Corbusier's "Unité d'Habitation" in Marseille is scrutinized as a key case study.
Building on these historical precedents, the study then considers contemporary forms of collective living that emerged in the late 20th century in cities like Vienna and Zurich—such as "co-housing"—as modern successors to the Einküchenhaus concept.
