Hypermedia means, an extension to hypertext providing multimedia facilities, such as those handling sound and vide. Hypermedia is a computer-based information retrieval system that enables a user to gain or provide access to texts, audio and video recordings, photographs and computer graphics related to a particular subject. Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms. This paper expresses the views of utility of hypermedia in education as well as other areas. This paper explains the parental care of Internet views. This paper illustrates the different types of tools, search engines and Indian initiatives towards hypermedia. Lot of barriers that must be overcome for online education are financial barriers, resistance to change, bandwidth limitations, access limitations, insufficient search facilities, copyright issues, and barriers to online assessments. A great teacher inspires first, influences next and third and only third, informs.
