Ethiopia harbors multidirectional a tourist destination site potentials; among the potentials, historical battle field sites for important political activities and related archeological sites are found in different parts of the country, for instance the battle of Adwa is the prominent.
The study was aimed at identifying the potential challenges and opportunities the site through site observation, interview and questionnaires with the analysis of tabulation and percentage for quantitative data and organizing the data during and after data collection in a way that can suit the study objectives for qualitative data analysis. Bear this in mind the site Mayansti and its surrounds are the historical sites which has old historical events. The two Italian forts and the stream water has more than a hundreds old history and the Endayesus Orthodox church in Mekelle University Campus founded before the 16th century.
But less attention is given to these historical sites and local communities and university students have been challenged these sites for its potential of attraction tourists. Attention and conserving as well as activities related to Eco-tourism on the sites are recommended.

2.2Mayansti and its surroundings history during Ethio-Italian war
The Italian troops were fortified at the place called Endayesus(Endayesus Mountain) which made it difficult to struggle Italian troops during the time. The Ethiopian troops, and the advice of empress Taytu, having accuses the spring water (Mayansti) from where the water streams into the Italian fortifications (Italian fort), the enemy in the isolated garrisons started to suffer. . In attempting to occupy the advice of many gallant Ethiopian died.
Finally, Pietro Felter (who had been with Rhas Makonnon at Harer) was brought from Zeila, where he had been since he was expected from Harer in September 1895, and was set to negotiate from their release. at the result negotiation, major glussepp galliano, the commander of the fort and his men, were allowed to leave on January 23,escorted and assisted by Ethiopians. thus the Italians who had been under siege, with their gun retiles and all their belonging ,joined the Italian at Endaga hamus, near Adigrat this act enhanced the prestige Menelik in the eye of the world but it was resented by most Ethiopians, who felt the released Italians would swelled the rank of the enemy,(Paulos Milkias et al, 2005 ).
Thus, so many ups and downs with its success for the isolation of Italian troops from these sites to Adigrat that the area becomes one of Ethiopian battle field sites.
