The purpose of the paper is to find out if the New York Red Bulls are doing a good job in the field of fundraising and their different roles as a fundraiser and donor.

It is interesting to see that most of the activities are related to organizations that work with youths and that the donations are equipment instead of money. The fundraising events are hosted with other organizations and the Red Bulls give the whole money they raised to those organizations.

The paper shows that the Red Bulls are being very active when it comes to fundraising but they can still improve. Also, it helps the organization to get more fans and be more popular because the press is talking about their events.

Excerpt from the Book

Covenant House New Jersey

In 2014 and 2015 the New York Red bulls became a supporter of Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ) helping them to raise money. It is a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, and essential services to homeless youth in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Since 1989 they are operating in New Jersey. Together with Horizon Blue Cross Shield New Jersey they host a Sleep out at the Red Bulls Arena two years in a row. Horizon Blue Cross Shield New Jersey is a longtime supporter of CHNJ (CHNJ, 2015a).

The Sleep Outs started at 7 p.m., and ended at 6 a.m. the next morning. In the evening they started with a dinner, followed by a presentation about what it is like to be homeless and the role of the Covenant House. After, youth people talked about their experience of being homeless. When they finished their talks the people who slept out got a sleeping bag and a cardboard box, because that is all the homeless people have to sleep too. They were sleeping underneath the stadium (CHNJ, 2015b).

In 2014 these two organizations brought 78 people together in the New York Red Bulls stadium for a night of sleeping outside. The event was hosted to show solidarity to homeless young people and employees from Horizon, the NYRB and members of the local community attended the event. The event in 2014 raised $88,000 which goes to the CHNJ to support their mission (CHNJ, 2015a).
