Yet there is one very distinctive linguistic feature that could help to recognize Standard Canadian English. The way Canadian pronounce words like house, couch and about is very unique because for foreigners their pronunciation may sound like aboot the hoose for saying about the house. This perception however is not 100 per cent true because what one can recognize when listening to a Canadian saying these words is a higher vowel at the onset of the diphthong.
