Do students perform better if they are granted a computer via a loan program? The university of Rwanda started a program called Positivo, in which they intended to enhance students’ performances by providing them with laptops. The objective of this paper was to assess the impact of such loan program.
A study was conducted with students who benefitted from this program. In the study 88 participants from different departments were chosen. Self-administered questionnaires were used to obtain primary data to be used in the analysis. The students were asked questions related to their computer use, as well as about the marks they obtained before and after the introduction of the computer loan program. The paired sample t-test and descriptive statistics were implemented to study the difference between the two points in time, in order to discuss the general impact of the introduction of the Positivo laptop computer loan on the learning environment.

Zielsetzung und Themenschwerpunkte (Objectives and Key Themes)
This research paper aims to assess the impact of the Positivo computer loan program on university students' learning perspective at the University of Rwanda (UR), Huye Campus, College of Business and Economics (CBE) from 2015 to 2017. The program, an initiative of the Rwandan government, was introduced to increase the effectiveness of education in both higher and lower learning institutions. This research delves into the impact of the program on students' learning experiences, exploring the influence of computer access on their academic performance, overall learning environment, and their perception of the program's effectiveness.
- The impact of computer access on student learning
- The effectiveness of the Positivo computer loan program
- Student perceptions and attitudes towards the program
- The role of computer literacy in student success
- Policy recommendations for improving the program's impact
