Resumen Extracto de texto Detalles

This paper researches the Bialowieza Forest in Poland in order to gather much information about the natural world heritage site itself, its various touristic offers as well as the tourism and visitor management there. Secondly, ideas of how to enhance the visitor experience of the Kalkalpen Nationalpark’s beech forest were established. The results are based on other national parks and protected areas ideas and innovations, the results of Fürtner’s master thesis and on what we have learned in class. The team tried to establish ideas with a focus on sustainability. Also, some ideas refer to technology or leisure time for tourists and travellers. Moreover, the team tried to suggest ideas that are as practical as possible for a real-life execution.

Excerpt from the Book

2.1.6 3-senses blind tree-discovery

This simulation would require some technical background: The project would be in an artificial dark room, where visitors cannot see anything and they should trust on their other senses. In the complete dark room, from the speakers different voices will be played. These voices would be the windy, the rainy or the quiet (even when the nature is quiet, the forest has its own voices) forest. At the same time, visitors smell would be tested by fragmenting forest-like smells. Here again, different smells would activate different senses and emotions. The wet, rainy forest smells totally differently as the blooming Spring.

Finally, beech trees could be touched in the dark, all at their different stages. A young and fresh plant, a grown tree’s bark and a “dead” tree’s soft body. This 3-senses discovery would show to the visitors how diverse the nature is and how beautiful it is in its different stages.
