This chapter reads well. It dissects the characteristics of Lumasaba riddles and proverbs while exploring poetic language as the epicenter of understanding the world views of the Bamasaba people of eastern Uganda. It considers the literary features of the riddles and proverbs, categories, structure and context of the short linguistic aphorisms. In attempting a classification of Lumasaba riddles and proverbs, the author succeeds in presenting the short forms as distinct verbal entities linguistically expressed and validated both by the text itself and the social context of performance
