The prevailing economic scenario in Nigeria, of a truth, has led the present government in Nigeria to look at means of diversifying the economy. With this, it has become imperative to think of incorporating various entrepreneurial options in actuality as well as introducing new entrepreneurial options into the already existing economic system as a mechanism of sustenance and a survival kit to keep afloat amidst this economic depreciation. Furthermore, Olayinka and Olaoluwa bring this problem to a practical pinpoint by illustrating that "the present government has been advocating for the incorporation of entrepreneurship studies into the syllabus of all our higher institutions of learning"; with the aims to sensitise the entire citizens of Nigeria about the importance and advantages of being self-reliant instead of searching for white-collar jobs (also referred to as salary jobs), which are not always readily available.

Excerpt from the Book
1.1 Background to the Study
It is obvious that the global economic downturn as generally being experienced has, in various ways, resulted in situations that so many individuals are facing terrible difficulties in getting a job on graduation from tertiary institutions. Yet, others who could once boast of being gainfully employed are being eased out of their jobs. This has rendered a great deal of people redundant thereby enlarging the circle of unemployment in the country (Olayinka and Olaoluwa (2016: 45). Many are believed to have resorted to all sorts of illegitimacies and social vices such as armed robbery, prostitution and some other things that stain the image of this country as a result of their inability to secure jobs, and put food on their table (Ewumi, Oyenuga, and Owoyele (2012: 73).
In Nigeria, even though up-to-date statistical data are lacking, Ewumi, Oyenuga, and Owoyele (2012: 73) posit that, “local media reports indicate that half of the Nigerian population of 148 million are youths, 95% of whom are unemployed. Decades of economic stagnation and poverty have driven a large percentage of this figure to crime and violence in their early years”. For this reason, it is believed that one of the many pressing challenges facing Nigeria today is youth unemployment with the ripple effect of increased violent crimes. This has raised the concern of many educationists and the public in general to encourage youths to engage in useful livelihood. With this, the importance of entrepreneurship development to the economy has been the subject of increased attention in Nigeria and the world-over in recent years.
