In seinem anlässlich des Wolfenbütteler Locke-Symposiums im Jahre 1979 verfassten Essay "Locke, Law, and the Laws of Nature" thematisiert G. A. J. Rogers die menschliche Erkenntniskraft auf dem Gebiet von Moral und Naturphilosophie bei John Locke. Im Zentrum seiner Ausführungen steht der logische Status der Moral- und Naturgesetze: den Ausgangspunkt bildet die Frage, ob es sich hierbei um notwendige oder kontingente Wahrheiten handelt, wobei eine Beleuchtung der theologischen, epistemologischen und moralphilosophischen Aspekte von Lockes Werk von grundlegender Bedeutung für die Erörterung dieses Problems ist.
