Biography

Dr. Muhammad Akram Zaheer is a Pakistani academic, researcher, columnist, and political analyst specializing in political science and international relations. He serves as Assistant Professor of Pakistan Studies Imperial College of Business Studies. He has also worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Okara. He supervises M.Phil. and PhD scholars and contributes extensively to research and higher education in Pakistan.
Dr. Zaheer received his early higher education in Bahawalpur. He completed his M.Phil. in Political Science in 2013 from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur with research focusing on federalism and national integration in Pakistan. In 2021, he obtained his PhD in Political Science from the same institution. His doctoral thesis, titled China-Iran Strategic Relationship: Implications on Contemporary Geopolitics of the Persian Gulf, examined regional geopolitics and strategic realignments in the Middle East and South Asia.
His academic and research interests include geopolitics, international relations, political economy, ethnic conflicts, regional security, globalization, and strategic relations among China, Iran, Russia, and Pakistan. His work particularly focuses on South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, with emphasis on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and evolving Eurasian alignments.
Dr. Zaheer has authored numerous scholarly articles, books, and book chapters published in national and international academic journals. His works have appeared in journals such as Stosunki Międzynarodowe – International Relations, Journal of South Asian Studies, and Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization. He is also the author of books including Geopolitical Conflicts: A Quest to Understand the Struggle of Influence (2024).
Alongside academic research, Dr. Muhammad Akram Zaheer is an active newspaper columnist who regularly writes on international affairs, regional politics, and global security for publications including Pakistan Today, Daily Times, Pakistan Observer, Islamabad Post, and Pakistan & Gulf Economist. He has presented research papers at international conferences and seminars in Pakistan and abroad, including academic forums in Tehran and Lahore. He is also associated with international research networks and maintains scholarly profiles on platforms such as Google Scholar and Research Gate. His ORCID identifier is 0000-0001-8022-4685.
