Riyaz is currently Graduate Student, PhD. Religion and Literature, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, having MA in English Literature and Culture from Jamia Millia Islamia, and MA in Islamic Studies from Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala. To his credit, he knows Arabic, Turkish, English, Urdu, Hindi and Malayalam
