Biography
Andinet Zeleke Bekele is a civil engineer with a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from Addis Ababa University. Born on February 4, 1980, in Ambo, Ethiopia, Andinet has built a diverse career in Ethiopia’s governmental construction sector, progressing from supervisory roles to senior managerial positions over 15 years.
He completed his MSc thesis titled “Development of Computer Program for the Structural Design of Concrete Slab Culvert Deck”, where he developed a structural design program using FORTRAN-95. Andinet graduated with a GPA of 3.68, earning a distinction for his thesis work.
Throughout his career, he has enhanced his expertise through professional training and certifications from prestigious institutions, including:
Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (2015)
International Leadership Institute (2014)
Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) sponsored training by HABCON Consult PLC (2013)
From 2004 to 2019, Andinet held various roles such as supervisor, office engineer, team leader, and project manager in highway construction, road design, and building construction projects. Notably, he served as Deputy CEO Engineering Affairs Senior Adviser at Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation.
His technical skills encompass bridge and culvert design using AutoCAD and design manuals, highway design with Eagle Point software, structural design of low-rise buildings using ETABS, and detailed preparation of road templates and working drawings. He is also experienced in surveying data analysis and project management.
Currently residing in the Netherlands since January 2019, Andinet is a student at Wageningen University, continuing to pursue his passion for sustainable infrastructure development and urban environmental management.
Outside his professional interests, Andinet enjoys driving and listening to music.
