Biography
Born on November 26, 1987, into a lineage of migrants, Dr. Ageru Shume Nadew began his life in Dawuha Makisegnit, Gojjam. His parents, Shume Nadew Shibesh and Kassu Mesele Tegegne, originally from Gayint, Gondar, were compelled by regional unrest to seek better opportunities, ultimately resettling in Pawe in 1992.
His formal education began at K2V2 Primary School, continued through K2V2 Secondary School, and concluded with preparatory studies at Pawe Senior Secondary School. Demonstrating exceptional academic performance, he was admitted to Debre Birhan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History Education in 2008.
Following several years of teaching in the Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz National Regional States, Dr. Ageru joined Gilgel Beles College of Teachers’ Education in 2013 E.C. as a history education instructor. From 2015 to 2017 E.C., he pursued graduate studies at Jimma University, earning a Master of Arts in History. His academic journey reached its pinnacle in 2024, when he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in history education at Bahir Dar University.
His research interests span a broad range of topics, including the challenges confronting history education in Ethiopia, the role of history in fostering national cohesion and shaping collective identity, and the influence of state ideology on curricula and instructional materials.
