Biography of Juhar Ahmed
My name is Juhar Ahmed, and I am a lecturer at Dilla University in Ethiopia. My life has been a testament to resilience and unwavering commitment to education. I was born into a poor family and faced numerous challenges in my early years. Despite the financial difficulties, I had a strong desire to learn and made the courageous decision to attend school on my own.
In order to support myself, I took on additional responsibilities, such as tending to other people's cattle and even selling sugarcane. These endeavors helped me make ends meet while pursuing my education. With determination and hard work, I successfully completed my preparatory school education. This achievement opened the doors for me to gain admission to Dilla University, where I pursued a degree in Social Anthropology.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, the support of my friends, lecturers, and the unwavering prayers of my family played a crucial role in my academic journey. After graduation, I faced a two-year period of unemployment. However, in 2020, an opportunity presented itself when I secured a job as an assistant lecturer at Dilla University.
In 2021, my dedication to learning was recognized when I was awarded a scholarship to study a Master of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromso. This incredible opportunity was made possible through a collaboration between Dilla University and the Arctic University of Norway. I embraced this chance to broaden my knowledge and experiences.
Upon completing my courses at the Arctic University of Norway, I returned to my home university to finish my thesis. This marked a significant milestone in my academic journey, highlighting my resilience and determination to overcome all obstacles.
My story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the transformative impact of education. From facing financial challenges to balancing responsibilities, I have overcome numerous obstacles to achieve my academic goals. I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received along the way, which has shaped me into the dedicated and resilient individual I am today.
