This study is intended to distinguish the effects of diet in relation to the academic performance of a child with ASD in Ozamiz Central School-Sped Center A.Y 2020-2021. By the use of this study, the researcher can come up with an idea how helpful diet is in developing one’s academic performance considering the present disorder of the child. In addition, this study also aims to know what is the best diet that can help improve the academic performance of pupils with ASD.
Dietary Plan is a basic requirement for the child with autism to have a normal life and an appropriate dietary plan can help reduce the symptoms of various mental disorders. This study determined the effects of diet on the academic performance of a child with autism spectrum disorder in Ozamiz Central Elementary School, Division of Ozamiz City during the school year 2020-2021. This study utilized a pre-experimental research design for a single case. The child undergoes a one-month dietary therapy prepared by a registered dietician nutritionist (RDN). The instruments used are the grades in record of the subject through his teacher and interview on the part of the parent. Statistical treatments utilized are weighted mean, standard deviation and Mcnemar’s test.

Research Objectives and Themes
This study aims to investigate the influence of a specialized one-month dietary program on the academic performance of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). By connecting dietary intake with academic outcomes, the research seeks to provide empirical evidence on how nutritional adjustments can potentially reduce symptoms and improve cognitive engagement in school settings.
- Effects of diet on the academic performance of children with ASD.
- Connection between dietary nutrition and brain function.
- Implementation of dietary therapy as a tool for educational support.
- Behavioral improvements observed through targeted meal plans.
Excerpt from the Book
Chapter III: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The researcher utilized a pre-experimental research design for a single case. The child under study was subjected to undergo a one-month dietary therapy prepared by a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). This approach was designed to improve the academic performance of the subject with Autism Spectrum Disorder. According to Campbell and Stanley (1963), the one-shot case study under the pre-experimental design was subsequently assumed to cause change. This casually observed the inferences of the subject based on the expectations that occurred. This was believed to be useful for making comparisons on growth, development and outcomes that were made with similar precisions by the subject of the study. For this type of design, there was no control or comparison group. This design was utilized in order to produce authentic and reliable data outcome by which the subject was observed from time to time.
An experiment was done before and after the implementation of the dietary program. The subject had undergone a pre experiment and after which, a program had been administered. After a month of program, a post experiment had also been done to test the further evaluation of the subject. This encouraged the researcher to concentrate on an in-depth knowledge of the subject. This also suggested that any findings of any kind had been seen and noticed by the researcher on the subject under study based on the observations of how the subject initiated growth, development and change.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary focus of this research?
The study investigates the impact of a structured one-month dietary plan on the academic performance of a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
What are the central themes discussed in the work?
Key themes include the link between malnutrition and learning disabilities in ASD, the role of specific dietary nutrients in brain function, and the feasibility of implementing dietary interventions in an educational context.
What is the main objective of this study?
The objective is to determine if a specialized dietary program, prepared by a registered dietitian, results in measurable improvements in a child’s academic performance and classroom behavior.
Which scientific methods were employed?
The researcher used a pre-experimental, single-case research design involving pre- and post-intervention evaluations, utilizing statistical treatments such as weighted mean, standard deviation, and McNemar’s test.
What topics are covered in the main section of the paper?
The main sections cover the theoretical frameworks (including metabolic dysfunction and opioid excess theories), the research methodology, data interpretation of academic grades, and the qualitative perceptions from stakeholders.
Which keywords characterize this work?
The work is characterized by terms such as dietary plan, child with autism, academic performance, and teaching skills.
How does the study address the challenge of "picky eating" in ASD children?
The study highlights that children with ASD often face sensory or feeding issues, and recommends that dietary plans be carefully monitored and adjusted to ensure nutritional adequacy while respecting the child's preferences.
What conclusion did the researcher reach regarding Mathematics?
The data revealed that while the subject showed significant improvements in subjects like English and Araling Panlipunan, there was no significant increase in Mathematics performance, suggesting the child may have specific learning difficulties in that area.
