Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
The first chapter introduces the concept of creativity and its role within the creative and cultural industries. It defines creativity, highlighting its key characteristics of originality and functionality, and explores the importance of fostering creativity for economic growth. The chapter also presents the Maltese government's initiative to define the creative and cultural sector and its pillars, as illustrated in Figure 1.
The second chapter focuses on the specific challenges and opportunities for creativity within the museum sector. It acknowledges the significant changes museums have undergone in recent years, driven by new communication channels, formats, and competitors, such as the Google Culture and Arts program. The chapter introduces the Museum Innovation Model (MIM), which proposes a framework for museums to navigate these challenges and achieve their organizational mission through open innovation, social enterprise, and social innovation.
