This essay aims to discuss and explore the subject of health, and the various possible explanations for the so-called "widening gap" in health inequalities, which has become increasingly evident over the last two decades.

Much of my reading of this subject indicates that in recent years the government in the United Kingdom have expressed increasing concern with regard to the health inequalities problem; and therefore, a larger focus has been placed on researching and resolving the problem of the "widening gap" in health inequalities.

However, it is also interesting to note that despite all of the publicity, which the political health inequalities debate has received, the efforts of the government in the United Kingdom have had little success in narrowing the gap in health inequalities. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to find that many sources state that the gap in health inequalities continues to grow.
